In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of God plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

Okay you don't know much about angels but the basic stuff. Angels are givin certain duties in the spiritual world for instance, sending messages to people in this world, or singing praise to God and making music. Satan was givin the gift to make music and also being the handsomis angel there in Heaven. But then he wanted to be like God and got a 3rd of the angels to be w/ him. Then God cast him out of Heaven and the other angels to the earth. Then God let him have power over the Earth before his final return. When angels sin they get kicked out of Heaven. Thats why theres so much evil in the world.

God created all of the angels perfectly, and yes, Satan was a powerful and good angel before he became bad. How was he able to turn into such a terrible creature? Well, when you allow a wrong desire to develop in your heart, and you keep thinking about it, the desire will eventually become very strong. When the opportunity arises, you act upon the bad desire that you have been thinking about. This happened in Satan's case. He heard God talking to Adam and Eve telling them to have children and fill the earth (Genesis 1:27,28). Upon hearing this, he thought to himself "Why, all these humans could worship me rather than God!" He thought about it, and a wrong desire developed in his heart. Eventually, he took action and deceived Eve into eating from the forbidden fruit (Genesis 3:1-5). He then became to be called Devil (which means Slanderer) and also Satan (which means Opposer).

He misleads people by using lies and trickery, and this is true when we look at our world today and also by examining the example of Adam and Eve.

Interesting too, that satan brought adam and eve "enlightenment" with his temptation....hmm...

Yes, angels have free will, so they may choose good or evil. Just like us. They choose to serve God or not to.

The Bible does not say that all angels are good, but that all angels were created good. One third of them rebelled with Lucifer, and became the demonic angels of darkness.

Satan fell because of his pride. We see an account of this as a type, when Ezekiel prophesied against Tyre:

"Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the Beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee." (Ezekiel 28:13-17)

Another picture of this is in Isaiah 14:12-15:

"How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit."

I hope that helps!
