I would have to say the Vatican has done more damage.
They have either directly or indirectly caused all of the following (and more)...
Communism, Nazism, Racism, Athieism/Humanism, Islam, Daoism, and modern day Spiritualism....such as Santeria, Macumba, Voo Doo, etc.
True Christianity has caused nothing but people who care and pray for others, and martyrs who died for their faith in Jesus Christ.
People who kill & persecute in the name of Christ, are NOT true Christians.
The Vatican is responsible for the murders of over 60 million Christians...and that was only within a thousand years and in Europe.
Worldwide, they are responsible for many more than that.

That has a question mark behind it, so I'll treat it like a question.
No, Christianity hasn't done more damage to the world than any other idea in history. However, when people hide behind religion, any religion, as a way of spreading hatred, that hurts the world. Christianity is about peace. It's a pity peaceful religions are twisted by hateful people. Jesus Christ came to the world to save it, not destroy it.

The idea that any one group of people is superior to any other had been more damaging than Christianity. That idea knows no religious bounds and has been played out in the annals of history since the beginning of time.

Hm, there have been a lot of bad ideas but christianity has certainly made some name for itself, especially the catholic church! Spanish Inquisition, the Crusades, burning witches, sex scandals. But in the plus column, a lot of good humanitarian work and organizations were formed by christians. So it's a toss up. How do we measure the damage? Or the good?

I'm Christian but I don't believe in the church because they are ones that have done the damage. During the Spanish inquisition, the crusades against the nostics and such. The church wanted people to believe in them in order to go to heaven. They would torture and kill people for not confessing to the church, very few did. Because they felt if they confessed to the church they would be turning their back on God. So they were willing to suffer through whatever they had to so they would go to heaven. The alternative was to confess to the church and not suffer here but spend eternity in hell after dieing. These people they killed were probably some of the best Christians there has ever been, willing to sacrifice all worldly things including their life for God. The church though want you to think the only way to get to heaven is through them when Jesus stated himself it is through him.

Nah, that honor belongs to marxism. Hundreds of millions of innocent people cruelly put to death for no real reason whatsoever. Plus, the eroding of people's sense of right and wrong to fill the world with heinous evil.
Contrast that with christianity which has been responsible for almost everything good in the world.

People masquerading as Christians have done their share. But no more or less through history than Jews, Muslims, Marxist, Despots, and others.
The concept is sound, it is a diffcult path and often it is abused.

I believe that religion is goood and bad.It is good to believe in a higher power for most people, but then most people take religion to the extreme and therefore think they have the one true God so take it upon themselves to fight against each other religion in the name of there God. So that is what to me makes religion bad as well. Most wars in history HAVE been over religion.

I would have to agree with that. Until people learn that they are the only ones controlling the course of their lives, and there isn't some diety pulling the strings, then we will never have peace.
