If you start shouting profanity at the Holy Ghost, is that blasphemy? What about when you make fun of people that speak in tongues? Well, I'm messed up on either front (lol, no... wait). I mean, I'm going to hell for not caring either way, but it is a concern I have in the back of my head.

If you read the context of Matthew 12...it tells you exactly what blasphemy of the Holy Ghost is...

Matthew 12:24 24But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.
The Pharisees were saying that Jesus was casting out devils by the power of Beelzebub(satan). That was the blasphemy. We know Jesus did this by the power of the Holy Ghost, not satan.

Matthew 12:32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
You can say anything against Jesus...but you cannot say anything against the Holy Ghost.I hope this helps you understand blasphemy of the Holy Ghost.

As far as mocking people who speak in tongues...

1 Corinthians 14:39 Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.

Matthew 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

blaspheming against the holy ghost is the most impardonable sin...speaking against the holy ghost... just as homosexuals and gays are a abomination unto the lord...it means that this world is close to decay...this land is shameful and given up to vile passions.....a person that knows the lord should be known by their fruits they bare.......and this is condemnation that the light has come into the world , and men loved darkness rather than light. because their deeds were evil...for everyone that practicing evil hates the light and does not come into the light, lest his deeds be exposed...but he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in god...in matthew 12:31 if you want to obey god but are concerned that you may have committed the unpardonable sin, you have not committed it...if anyone has committed this sin, it would be one who is hard hearted, who has turned against jesus, reviled him, and becomes so depraved that he would claim that god's spirit is satan......god gave gifts to some and some of those was given the gift of speaking in unknown tongues...but i think a lot of people wander about this... but the bible says it is better that one word be spoken in plain language than a lot spoken in unknown tongue...i did not find the scripture for that but i know that is what it says...hope this has helped you...

Going to hell? Forever and ever and ever? Time stretching so far into the future that no human mind can even begin to comprehend? For shouting for a few minutes? Laughing at someone for a few minutes? (Not nice to laugh at someone but I think you can see where I'm going with this) Put it into perspective. I've said it here before: Eternity in Hell for some little thing makes even less sense than "Life no Parole" in San Quentin for being a litterbug!

Lighten up! (But stop making fun of the tounge speakers. If they're not hurting anyone and it brings them comfort, live and let live...)

If the Holy Ghost took offense at humans blaspheming It, it doesn't sound too holy or loving does it?

I think the Holy Ghost would understand and love people either way..

The doctrine of the Catholic Church concerning the Holy Ghost forms an integral part of her teaching on the mystery of the Holy Trinity, of which St. Augustine (De Trin., I, iii, 5), speaking with diffidence, says: "In no other subject is the danger of erring so great, or the progress so difficult, or the fruit of a careful study so appreciable". The essential points of the dogma may be resumed in the following propositions:

* The Holy Ghost is the Third Person of the Blessed Trinity.
* Though really distinct, as a Person, from the Father and the Son, He is consubstantial with Them; being God like Them, He possesses with Them one and the same Divine Essence or Nature.
* He proceeds, not by way of generation, but by way of spiration, from the Father and the Son together, as from a single principle.

Such is the belief the Catholic faith demands.

The sins against the Holy Ghost are said to be unpardonable, but the meaning of this assertion will vary very much according to which of the three explanations given above is accepted. As to final impenitence it is absolute; and this is easily understood, for even God cannot pardon where there is no repentance, and the moment of death is the fatal instant after which no mortal sin is remitted. It was because St. Augustine considered Christ's words to imply absolute unpardonableness that he held the sin against the Holy Ghost to be solely final impenitence. In the other two explanations, according to St. Thomas, the sin against the Holy Ghost is remissable -- not absolutely and always, but inasmuch as (considered in itself) it has not the claims and extenuating circumstance, inclining towards a pardon, that might be alleged in the case of sins of weakness and ignorance. He who, from pure and deliberate malice, refuses to recognize the manifest work of God, or rejects the necessary means of salvation, acts exactly like a sick man who not only refuses all medicine and all food, but who does all in his power to increase his illness, and whose malady becomes incurable, due to his own action. It is true, that in either case, God could, by a miracle, overcome the evil; He could, by His omnipotent intervention, either nuillify the natural causes of bodily death, or radically change the will of the stubborn sinner; but such intervention is not in accordance with His ordinary providence; and if he allows the secondary causes to act, if He offers the free human will of ordinary but sufficient grace, who shall seek cause of complaint? In a word, the irremissableness of the sins against the Holy Ghost is exclusively on the part of the sinner, on account of the sinner's act.

Let me clear up speaking in tongues first.
A man of God filled with the holy spirit (in the end times) is preaching (teaching) to 10 people.
One is Japanese, one from Texas one from Ireland (who grew up speaking Gaelic) one from Germany, the others from various countries.

Each as heard the teacher in his own language of the county he was raised in, and marvel that the others can understand what he is saying!

To blasphemy the holy spirit is for this (as described above) teacher to be brought before the Anti-Christ and not repeat NOT let the holy spirit speak through him! And it is the unforgivable sin!

No one can really be sure if you're going to hell, but I'll give you my opinion. I have sworn at God too but most everyone has emotional outbursts from time to time. Do you really think you would go to hell for that? Remember the story of the prodigal son. He was forgiven after repenting. That's what God does.

Making fun of people would probably not send you to hell either. But, I think that people should focus more on following the golden rule and trying to love their neighbor, so maybe you should do that if you feel you need to improve (most of us do).

It's when you love evil so much that you want nothing to do with morality any more. You'll have no remorse for evil, sort of like Charles Manson. In other words, to commit the unpardonable sin, you have to never be sorry if you hurt yourself or someone else.....that's pure EVIL! Fwahahaha....that's bad. If you're worried that you'll do this sin, then you haven't did the sin yet. If you don't care and don't mind getting deleted from existance, then you probably did.
