You need to talk to someone who cares. Try to stay calm and realize you are not alone in your pain. There are many people on this site who do care about you and what you're going through. Is there someone you talk to online? Contact them and ask for some support. I'm not trained in this field, but I know pain. I know what it feels like to think I'd be better off dead than living the life I do. But if I can make it, you can, too. Believe in yourself, but first talk. That's the real way of getting your pain out. If you need someone and you don't know anyone, contact me. I'll listen.

" tried to stop but I can't because that's the only thing I thought I could of control"

The key to your question is within the question. An attempt at control of oneself is the primary reason people start cutting. The thought process is something like, "I realized I have no control over something, but I can demonstrate control over my body by cutting"

You have to realize that you do have quite a bit of control over your life, your body, your actions, and your future. Your present actions now to build a great future will help you accomplish that goal. Maybe you could write down a secret journal of what skills and advantages you have, and then define the goals you would like to obtain, develop a strategy for attaining those goals, and start towards that path. Recognize that not everything will be a complete success, and after each success or incomplete success, evaluate how you obtained those results for future reference.

Cutting is a form of control, but it is not going to give you the level of control over your life to reallize the fullness of your potential.

You can choose to get involved with groups that are doing something positive, you can individually undertake a positive role for change, You can change your hairstyle, the clothes you wear when you don't have to be in uniform. You can take up a new sport, interest, musical instrument, hobby, or something you enjoy. Or even something you think you might like to enjoy learning more about. Recognize if you start something new, it might not work out and you will have learned lessons that will help you undertake another new thing.

Sorry I ran long.

I really wish you the best.

I don't know how old you are so let's start with telling your parents you need to see a psychiatrist. If you are old enough to not need your parents to see a doctor (18 or older) call your primary care doctor and let them know what you are doing and that you need help stopping. Then see that doctor they refer you to. Do everything they tell you to do, take the medicine they give you and see the therapist they refer you to. This is the only way that you are going to stop. They will give you all the help in world. If you are in college - they have a wonderful counseling group and they can help you also.

Cutting is a very serious thing. In order to stop you just have to say to yourself: is this really helping me? or is it actually hurting me? You will need the love and help of your peers and family with this one. If you need to talk with me, just IM me or something.

Oh please, please see a therapist. My son's girlfriend used to do this and I pray she is not doing it anymore. I know it is used to try to take the emotional pain away and is used to endure the physical pain instead...but there is help. I pray that you trust an adult and you can get some much needed help before you cut too deep.....
