That religion is the worst idea man has invented? I mean every one should have faith, but to have faith in something as hypocritical as religion? I feel its silly for you to put all your trust in someone or something that has never done anything for you. Where was god when I need him most, when I spent many sleepless nights crying and praying? Where was he? What about all the people who are dying day after day of disease because of the way they live, or because they love someone of the same sex? What about all the people dying because they belive in something built on centuries of lies? I belive that everyone should have faith, and believe in something, but don't but your trust in religion, please. It'll just turn around and f**k you up in the end. Because all religion is is lies, centuries and melenimums of lies.

Yes, I agree with you.

I suggest to you that if comes to making a personal decision, religion vs reason, cast your vote on the side of reason. The "Gods" have had their reign ... if they were worthwhile and real, they would have easily solved all the problems you point out... including putting a stop to the spread of falsehoods.

Believe in truth... believe in reason.

..and Preacherman.. you are dead wrong. You don’t know recent historical figures very well at all... ( D minus ) Hitler was a Roman Catholic, Stalin was once a choir boy and a theology student and nearly became a priest - he never formally abandon his religious belief and never claimed to be an atheist. I don't know who you're referring to in China, but I'll bet you're on the wrong side of that one, too. As for Cuba... Duh.! You'd do better to look at Cambodia... and Viet Nam as blood baths, both of which were very violent communist movements similar to but much worse that puny Cuba; none of the three movements, however, claimed atheism as an official religion.. they simply stamped hard on the heartbeat of the crap that you stand for...and they strangled it's ability to act as a political opponent.

Atheism is good, Mr. Preacherman... it's bigger than you and it's stronger than you ... it's basis is fact, truth and reality. As you are accustom to hearing in other pretext - Prepare yourself... the end is near.

I have faith, and I believe in God, but I feel that religion is a myth-a man made thing created to give people something to hold on to. More killings have been made in the name of some religion, in the name of somebody's God because people didn't like what other people were doing. I'm not saying all religious people are hypocrites or evil or intolerant, but the better part of religious people I have met have been just that.

I agree with you 100%. I have had questions in my head for more than 50 years and no one can answer them. Questions about just why are we here, and you Christians don't give me the bible answer please, why is there suffering, why do the good moral people have to put up with the evil, stinking idiots who have no morals at all? You Christians can not answer any of those questions without using the bible as your pen. You just try to be the good person that you sound like and in the end you and I and all the others will get our answer, MAYBE. No one even knows that. There is nothing wrong with wanting to know the why of these questions. And by the way Preacherman, just because you are an atheist doesn't mean you are a killer. That's like me saying that all the child perverts are in the churches.

You may feel like that...I to have spent sleepless nights crying my eyes out so much that my parents can't sleep across the hall. Why didn't God do this and why didn't God do that...Very good question. My mother is a homebound teacher... she teaches kids who are out for a couple of weeks. she had an assingment to a little 8 year old girl. She had brain cancer. Her mom and big sister also died from brain cancer. One room apartment with her dad she's never been able to walk or move any of her left side for her whole life. She ended up being blind because her medicine didn't work and eventually died. Why didn't God stop her?!?!? why didn't he heal her...did he love her?!?!? All good questions. She would of been happier in heaven being able to walk even if God healed her cancer. My dad is a paster and every one expects me to be perfect...wearing one peace bathingsuits and I DON"T WANT TO!!!!!!! I get in trouble all the time and many other problems i would prefer not to talk about...including some suicides. God though has a plan for everything even if he sacrifices a christian to bring people into his arms. Just think...you are part of God's plan with whatever problem...you might end up being like Paul...not knowing who he was with all tragidies and ended up being the most godly man!!! You have trust God because their is always light!!!!! Email me if you want to talk and i promise ill give you the best advice and even spend hours at midnight with you! I wish people would do that with me!!! Good luck on your journey with God if I don't hear from you again!!!!

I believe in God. But I really don't believe in religion. I think religion is the basis of man's evil. Why can't we just believe that everything we do is decided by us. Not some other power or group. When you put people in a religion, they become self-centered and only focus on converting as many people as humanly possible to their beliefs. Not everyone, or individuals are that way but the church group as a whole is. If everyone could except people for who they are we'd be alot better off. John Lennon was right.

Sorry, but you are not making any sense. God and religion are two different entities. Careful how you express your self. God is what got you here. Regardless of what you believe God is always present, we are the ones that are never present because we get so caught up in our own selfish needs. He promise strenght and courage for our burdens which are lessons to help us grow as human beings because with out life happening with out it's ups and down we can't grow. So next time be careful how you express yours self regarding God and religion. Further more to have faith is to know GOD and his many wonders.

I agree with you. Faith and belief are great. Religions are dangerous. look at the Salem trials, the Crusades, fundamentalists, and anyone else who uses religion as an excuse. Everyone has God on their side. Even when they're argueing over the same God (Northern Ireland) or just different interpretations of God (fundamentalists). And to the person that said atheists do all the killings look at Buddhists. Buddhists don't believe in God making them atheist and yet they're pacifists. Also look to the Bible for tips on how to kill the heathens. (I hear stoning is popular) In short I agree that faith and belief are wonderful things. I put my faith and belief in myself and my abilities because I know they are there for me.

I'd like to see preacherman's sources for that tidbit of knowledge.

Hmm I don't think so. Religion is just believing, believing is just religion. When people go about their daily chores and do all their hygenic things and make their "money" they are doing it because they believe in what they were told.
They believe in science, they believe in sucess. Religion helps to mold societies, and without it, we would all be helpless andriods, blind to right and blind to wrong.
Where would be the action? And religion may be a "lie." But do define what a "lie" is and tell me how you 100% know that for sure because if you said you know what a "lie" is, then you would be believing in what you read/saw/heard, which is having faith which is a religion.
Later Homedog, keep insightful.

Well, god was created to control the people. Faith is actually a psychological matter and it's very useful. People who believe trust all their problems to god and feel better.
I don't believe in god but it's still used to control the people.
But isn't it a good thing when a person doesn't commit a crime because the bible tells him so.

Bryant Gumbel interviewed Billy Graham's daughter.

Gumbel:
"Why didn't God stop this or do something about this?"

Billy Graham's daughter:
"For years we have told God we didn't want Him in our schools. We didn't want Him in our government and we didn't want Him in our finances and God was being a perfect gentleman in doing just what we asked Him to do. We need to make up our mind - Do we want God or do we not want Him. We cannot just ask Him in when disaster strikes."

Bryant Gumbel was silent.

"Where is God?" the cynic asked, and wiped away a tear.
"In the midst of chaos, don't tell me that God is near."

"How can anyone believe there is a God of love
When He allows disaster, watching smugly from above."

"Where is God? I'll just get stoned, so I don't have to see
The crowded, dying, stinking masses of humanity.
I'll take care of number one, and keep my senses numb
And put down Christians everywhere; they're ignorant and dumb."

Friend, I saw God yesterday, when someone gave a bed
To someone he had never met...and got that person fed!
God was in the child's eyes who gave ten cents away
To help Katrina's victims somehow get through one more day.

Someone from my little town has volunteered to leave
Because his EMT abilities just might relieve
A little of the suffering and misery and strife.
God's in Brian's heart, to make him go and risk his life.

I've seen God in every tear that anyone has shed.
God will lead the valiant in the hectic days ahead.
Don't look up: Look all around. Just seek, and you will find
That God works through the hearts and through the hands of all mankind.

Religion has its purpose, but people have taken it way further than the purpose served. You seem to be running a little low on faith, so here is what I'm going to tell you.
Always, without a doubt, have faith in nature.
If this doesn't seem to be clear to you at first, think about it for a while. You will see what I mean.
