is middle schoo scary?

im going to just start middle school and i need to know is the first time scary

It depends on how well you deal with change and whether or not you have friends in your school already.

I had ZERO friends because my only two friends from elementary school moved away over the summer so I was left with only people who made fun of me.

Not to mention I got my period the first week of school and I had a huge embarrassing accident in the girls' bathroom.

I also had major anxiety problems so I couldn't open my locker and get my books in time to make it to class. This would have been less stressful had I not had a locker placed between two kids who loved to tease me.... making it even harder to get my locker open. So I wound up carrying all my books with me everywhere I went. Can you say back pain?

All this made even more people make fun of me... oh yeah, did I mention we had NO money so I always had to wear my cousins' hand-me-downs. So I guess I started off on the wrong foot, but every day at that place seemed like it was never going to end.

Once I got to highschool, though, I had a little more self esteem and made some new friends who didn't care what I wore, but middle school really was the low point of my school years.

You ask an honest question...

Honestly, middle school is probably the hugest right of passage you will ever face. It is okay if you're a little scared, but you will survive the next three years of your life. The biggest three years of change. You will change from a kid into almost a young adult by the time you leave.

I teach middle school now. you know what too... the night before I started grade 6, I couldn't sleep. I was so nervous. It is the most nervous I have ever been and I have been through high school AND college.
Good luck.... you will do fine!!! Be nice to people and in time, the friends worth keeping will be nice to you too.

at first, i was soo nervous. seperating from my friends, being late for class, managing all those classes. but once i got in, yea a few friends drifted away but u meet new friends. and its WONDERFUL! i loved middle school a lot more than elementary. u get more independence and ur treated like an adult, but not quite all of the responsibilities. ur going to love middle school. now i just wish someone would tell me how jr. highs gonna be..

Starting middle school can be scary, but its not as bad as you might think. I was nervous on my first day too, but you will find its nothing to worry about. You will be comfortable there sooner then you think!

is meeting someone new scary? at first, everyone is trying to be the first one out of the gates. in other words, kids will say some crap that you should ignore b/c they're just trying to be big and bad and all. but no, you'll do fine.

No, not at all. You may get lost sometimes, and you may forget your locker combo sometimes, but there's always someone to help you if you need it (just ask a teacher or custodian). That's the worst that can happen. Just remember to follow your scheldule, make new friends, and you'll be fine. Trust me, it doesn't take long to adjust.

Hell yeah...I got made fun of EVERY DAY. Middle School sucks...
