Muslims prevented free speech by attacking and threatening Danish Caricatures. Now Jews do the same by threatening Mel Gibson. There is a big difference between disagreeing with what he said and attacking someone. It seems that it is OK to attack everyone else but Jews and Muslims and they often do that to others.

I'm Jewish and I'm not angry at Mel Gibson. I know he is a devout Catholic and I respect that. I'm not going to let something he said when he was drunk affect me feelings towards him.

They cant stop his career unless they kill him and that's unlikely. The Jewish ppl have the right to their free speech as well and if they dont wanna go see his movies anymore or work with him that's their choice, if someone called u a horrible name would u wanna be friends with them? And frankly i haven't heard much about the Jews attacking Mel Gibson in-fact they said if he was truly sorry they would forgive him, more than i would do! If ppl now choose to boycott his movies it's his own fault, sure he has a right to freedom of speech but ppl also have the right to disagree with him and he has to accept the consequences.

the free market determines what is acceptable speech. if gibson's remarks lead to people boycotting his work, then the market has spoken. Unlike the Danish cartoon incident, jews have not threatened any violence. The only fear gibson has is professional -- why should a jewish executive choose to work with an anti-semite? The freedom to speak and say what you want is not the issue here -- the issue is the freedom to choose NOT to associate yourself who says something offensive or unpopular.

Um.... no its not ok to attack ANYONE.

Would you be asking this if he had said black people were the root of all evil?

What Mel Gibson did was deplorable, it doesn't matter how drunk you are. And making it acceptable is no better than criticizing him. As a public figure he does have to watch what he does, and as someone who believes he's an ambassidor for his faith he shouldn't go around slandering other religions.

i agree. there is supose to be free speech but when its used we are all racists, bigots and jerks. jews have contributed to many wars so? many terrorists are muslims? whats the problem. if i said all jews should die thats a bad comment. but stating a fact or constructive opinion isnt really a problem. its once again 1 rule for 1 another rule for others. mel says one thing thats bad...but its ok to threaten him?
when america invaded iraq the world said it was illegal..fairly so. but now that israel has oppressed lebenon the world doesnt say much....

Not all Jews have done this. I heard a Rabbi who is a Jewish leader and he wants definitely to help Mel Gibson get the assistance that he needs.

you have to understand this, insulting a prophet with caricatures and then refusing to remove it sounds like it was done with malice. mel gibson's outburst was done in a drunken state of mind and usually drunks speak the truth. so he was being honest....of his on opinion of the jews. however if the jews are gonna get all worked up because of a drunken statement, then i say the jews are being childish.
