I have this dc to ac inverter for my laptop so I can charge it in the car. Tomorrow i'm going to Florida with my friend's family. I don't want to use my laptop if it sucks his car battery dry. Do car batteries charge themselves? We're going to be driving in a Nissan Armada.

Your alternator will increase it's output to keep the battery charged. If you drive at night with your lights on, the alternator puts out more amps. If you turn on your blower motor, the alternator puts out more amps.

If you connect an inverter to run your laptop, the alternator will increase it's output to keep the battery charged.

Have a good trip and don't worry about sucking your battery dry by using an inverter to power your laptop. Your alternator will handle that like a breeze.
