It depends what type of dog you choose. Smaller dogs can be paper trained. You can purchase special "puppy pads" that have a scent that attracts the dog. They get used to going on the pads and eventually you can switch to newspaper. You just clean it up as soon as they go. If you choose a bigger dog, it will most likely go outside in your yard. You should clean it up immediately so it doesn't stink up your yard. I just use a plastic bag to pick it up, but not everyone is comfortable doing that. You can buy scoops at most department and pet stores. If you take your dog for a walk somewhere outside your yard, you should definitely clean up after it. It's just rude not to clean it up - and it's the law in most places. Good luck.

Unless you take your dog for a walk in the woods or somewhere else, of course he'll poop in your yard and you'll want to clean it up. Besides the smell, you certainly won't want to step in it. It really doesn't take too much to clean up dog poop, so that's not a big issue.
Off the subject, why don't you ask your neighbors to keep their dog out of your yard? That's pretty rude. I wouldn't let my dog wander into a neighbor's yard!

If the dog poops inside the house, yu have to clean it up. If it poops outside, make sure that you at least put something over it( if it's in the backyard).

I have a smaller yard and a bigger dog. He usually goes to the same spot to go, well he has 2 spots. I have to go out and pick it up every other day or sometimes every day or it will smell. I will eventually mix into the ground but leave the grass looking yellow! So I would pick up what you can. Most of all with a bigger dog. Little dogs make little messes are are easier to leave! Good luck

Just carry a plastic bag with you & pick up the poop with the bag over your hand & throw it in the trash. Why does your neighbors dog poop in YOUR yard? Make them clean it up. Treat dog poop just like your own...don't leave it lying around!

Your new dog will smell its way to just the right spot to poop and often will poop in the same spot. Unless you live in a urban setting you don't have to pick up dog poop. It'll turn white and dry up to nothing.

Most cities have laws that say you have to pick up after your dog. Sounds like you live in the country though, so look it up. Certainly talk to the neighbor about his dog.
You know how it feels when someone else's dog poops on your property, do you think you could let your dog do that to someone else?
Pick up after your dog.

Some long hair dogs are "prissy" & do not like to get their feet wet. So if there is dew out on the ground or if it's rained recently he might not want to get his feet wet. I had a hard to potty train dog & I ended up just leaving him outside all day & then bring him in at night. Did this for about a week or longer & then he never used the bathroom in the house again. Just a thought.

If its ur backyard u can get a poop disposer. Its buried in ur backyard and has a lid. You dump the poop in and it disperses back into the earth underground after it breaks down. Its called a doggie disposal I think.

In their own backyard. If the owner does not have a backyard, they should scoop up the crap. It is very dirty and rude to leave the dog's stool lying on the sidewalk or the grass.
