I don't know that really is a bigger problem than the illegal child sex trade.

I don't know what s'pore is, but I don't think that any one should have the right to tell other people what they can and cannot do to their lungs like by putting a ban on smoking. What will that do but most likely create tons of conflict and a lot more work for the police who could be out there arresting real criminals and getting to drunks before they try and drive. Banning anything completely, especially something so widely used, is a bad idea, just look at what Prohibition did and all of the stupid things that have come from it since...

Oh, and if you are polite and ask someone who is smoking if they would mind smoking else where, most smokers have no problem moving or putting it out. I've yet to encounter someone who was polite though, they usually say stupid things like 'that's disgusting' 'I don't want cancer from your habit' etc... Stupid, rude non-smokers! Anyway, I noticed that smokers almost always make it a habit to move away or put out their cigarette when a baby or small child is near, even without the parent asking them to.

Wish LA would, people don't obey the no smoking ban on the beahc and in public places. It's a nasty habit and we shouldn't all have to suffer it with the smoker.

Would a heavy tax stop the smokers? Than that money could be used for good and hopefully save some lives as well.

I don't know, it seams like such an 1984 nanny state already, why not go all the way.
