From the Adobe website, http://www.adobe.com , you can get a 30 day trial of either Photoshop ($650), or Photoshop Elements 4 ($90).

From the Corel Website, http://www.corel.com , you can download 30 day trials of Paintshop Pro X ($80) or Painter ($380) or Painter Essentials 3 ($80).

The cost may be worth it if you are anticipating a lot of use on them. At least you can try them out and see if it's something you want to invest in.

Of these, Corel Paint Shop Pro is probably easiest, or Photo Shop Elements.

Also, the below websites have image-editing software with a varying degree of complexity and capability that are totally free.

http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/

http://picasa.google.com/index.html

http://www.ambientdesign.com/artragedown.html
http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/Project_Dogwaffle/dogwaffle.html
http://www.faststone.org/download.htm

Of the above, start with photofiltre or photo plus.

Hope this helps

NOTE: Just found out links weren't working, and I fixed them.

Try Paint shop pro, or Adobe Photo Shop.
