for what purpose, 9MM is very popular and has a lot of different kinds of loads, but the redneck in prefers my ages old model 19 S&W .357 Mag. Just depends on what you are doing with it. While at the mine I carry a short barrel 22 auto for snakes (desert country). Are you a trained marksman, if not get trained and that will help you make your decision. Many gun stores and or your local police department will be more than willing to help you find the appropiate training.
Yes, I am an NRA member, I believe an armed American is a free American.
If you are looking for a home defense weapon the shortest barrel legal shotgun, unchoked, first two loads of dove loads and the rest heavies. A "scatter gun" does not penitrate walls, spreads out to cover the typical large room and so I have been told the &*(%$# pellets hurt. The dove loads will dampen any one's spirits at close range.
Good luck and have fun..

It depends on exactly what you're looking for. My personal preference was a light but still powerful gun. I figured that, if it wasn't light, I would end up finding reasons not to carry it.
I got a Springfield Armory XD sub-compact 9mm. It's very light for a 9mm, and pretty accurate for only having a 3" barrel. They came out with a .45 after I bought mine. It looks even better.
Check them out at the link below.
All of that being said, this is under the police section, so if you are an officer, I would, of course, recommend something bigger and more accurate.

Well I wouldnt be one to encourage you to conceal a weapon illegally. However, any small calibre pistol like a 25 or a 22 is lightweight and has better stopping power than a large calibre pistol.

A 22 does not have better stopping power than higher caliber weapons. It might do more damage if it bounces around inside a person, but it doesn't have better stopping power Glock makes small handguns with high calibers and they are light because they are plastic. You can get a 45 that is pretty small, but they are less acurate than a 22.

I carry a 1911 .45 or an XD9. It depends on what you can handle, but nothing under 9 mm or .38 caliber

A 357 is one of my all time favorites as far as smallness with power, but a simple 9 will probably do. Make sure to have a permit if you choose to get a gun and remember: A concealed weapon can get you in trouble. Be smart, and safe.

The one you can handle the best. Talk to a gun shop with a firing range. They can help you choose the best weapon for you.
