Super Dooper question.

They regulate your thyroid. They provide mental clarity and emotional balance. They address your metabolism. It is heart healthy. It aleviates PMS. It strengthens and regulates female organs. It strengthens and regulates male organs. It also lubricates joints though not to extent of hyaluronic acid (which is naturally found in our bodies).

You can find them in salmon (preferably sockeye from alaska). You can find them less in Tuna. You can find them a little bit in Macadamia Nut Oil. Less pricier is Flax Oil and that is very concentrated, moreso than fish but doesn't contain the EPA and DHA of the omega-3 kind. A tiny bit in walnuts, but don't heat them. If you are tree nut sensitive, don't get walnuts.

If you have $ available, these are quality supplements:

Omega 3 fatty acids are very good for the body. I am not an expert but have been taking them on a regular basis. They are good for joints, heart health, and I believe it is good for the brain. These fats can be found in certain fish such as tuna, salmon and others. You can also find them in flax seeds. But, for convenience you can get them in capsule form. However, you get better benefits from eating the foods that contain them. This Omega 3 is a very good fat to have in your body. Contrary to what some believe the body requires certain amount of fat to run healthily.

Essential fatty acids supply the body with important metabolic building blocks. Improving the ratio of Omega 3 to Omega 6 in the diet has been shown to play a crucial role in prostaglandin production. Prostaglandins play an important role in virtually every major body function, including blood pressure, fluid retention, blood cell stickiness, inflammation, allergies, fever and the immune system.

The best source of Omega 3 is found in fish: mackerel, lake trout, herring, sardines, albacore tuna and salmon.

Fish are excellent sources, as many had already described earlier.

If a person does not like fish, then they can take an Omega-3 supplement (found in any vitamin section of any store - i.e. Costco has a big container).

The following website has great information --> http://www.omega-3info.com/home.htm

EFAs (essential fatty acids) are involved in normal physiology, including:

regulating pressure in the eye, joints, and blood vessels, and mediating immune response
regulating bodily secretions and their viscosity
dilating or constricting blood vessels
regulating collateral circulation
directing endocrine hormones to their target cells
regulating smooth muscles and autonomic reflexes
being primary constituents of cell membranes
regulating the rate of cell division
maintaining the fluidity and rigidity of cellular membranes
regulating the inflow and outflow of substances to and from cells
transporting oxygen from red blood cells to the tissues
maintaining proper kidney function and fluid balance
keeping saturated fats mobile in the blood stream
preventing blood cells from clumping together (blood clots that can be a cause of heart attack and stroke)
mediating the release of inflammatory substances from cells that may trigger allergic conditions
regulating nerve transmission and communication
If the diet is deficient in either omega-6 or omega-3 long-term degenerative illnesses will result.
