Every time I see some of these questions of "I'm pregnant, what should I do?" the answer is always either keep the baby or get an abortion. There are other options out there! Adoption! Safe Surrender! For goodness sakes these things exist! Why doesn't anyone else seem to know that? No offense to others, because I know there are a good number of people who have suggested adoption, but the people asking the questions never seem to mention it.

Lack of education would be my guess. It's been a while since sex-ed (15 years...God I feel old!) but I remember them teaching only the basics...menstrual cycle, sex organs, birth control, pregnancy, etc. They never went into what to do if you actually GET pregnant...I think the teachers were too busy focusing on teaching us how NOT to get pregnant.

You'd think, after seeing on the news how some girl left her baby at the local fire department, the weekly segment about an orphan who needs to be adopted, that common sense would kick in and these women (girls, more like it!) would realize this. I think it's probably a matter of they're so shocked/scared/upset about being pregnant, the two most common options (abortion/keep the baby) are the only two things that come to mind for them.

Normally they wouldn't mention it because they don't want to keep the baby or even carry it to full term and then put it up for adoption. For some reason people sleep better at night knowing they had an abortion rather than knowing they put there child up for adoption. The fear is in the child coming back and asking why they were adopted?

I always offer that as a suggestion because there are people on waiting lists for years that cannot have their own children. I would much rather see a child adopted than thrown out in a dumpster. I think when someone does that they should be sterilized so they cannot get pregnant again. There are always other options out there.

That's one of the reason's I decided to be a surrogate. I already have enough of my own, that I can AFFORD. But because I enjoy being pregnant and I am good at labor and delivery, I signed up for Surrogenesis.

As an adult, I know what my limits are.
