yes, its a big thing here in italy, im an american, and ive been with my italian bf since june 26, 2002. 4 years have been a lot and we like to think back how did it ever begin? he was 23, i was 19 back then, i barely arrived to florence, didnt speak a word of italian and neither did he in english. he was the type who had never had a relationship longer than 2 weeks, he wasnt an ugly guy at all, he was the well built, nice car, cute face type of guy, but the one who could never hold on to one girl longer than a week.
so he told me the day he met me, (it was a disco bar, yes i know the worst place to find one), he came back home around 4:30 am after meeting me and dropping me and my friend off at our home, he told me, he came inside, ran to his mama's bed at 5 am to wake her and tell her he just met a 'girl'.... i dont mean to say he never met girls, he had been with thousands before, but i guess i really ment something to him that day, so much he had to wake up his mama just to tell her that.
my story went unlike the others, his mama wasnt as happy to know her darling lovable son was dating an 'american'. i figured she was scared i was the type in which he would leave his home italy to be with me in the states, so...she didnt like me at all. my bf respected his mama, but it was his decision whether who to love or not. through out the time we began to communicate a little more and after my decision of staying here in italy to study at the university completely calmed her down.
its been four years and we are still happily together, we are about to take off next week to paris to celebrate our 4 years, this june i was tied up in exams and had to miss our date to celebrate. as for his mom, NOW finally, after so long we are close, she cares a lot about me and whenever im down and sad aobut something she treats me like my mom and yes the food you HAVE to like or else she would get offended.

It's true that most people prefer to date in their own race; however, it's not true for everyone. I've been to Italy and saw no violent Italian mean, but in every race there are violent people. Saying all Italian men are violent and mean is just a stereotype.

Good luck, honey. Italian men are difficult because it's all about them! But then, that's just men in general, huh?? I don't personally think taking a gal home to mama means anything more than that he is close to his mama, which most italian men are - one plus - they are big family people!

Most likely means you are special and not some piece of ***. Or he is a Mamma's boy. Dig into the spaghetti, eat up, so don't act all crazy neat! Have fun, me & my man are Italian and Mama is important.

Is this the same Danni whose favorite food is country fried steak with biscuits and gravy-that is as far from Italian as you can get Southern child. His mama won't be making any of that!

I'd like to tell you that in Italy there are a mother and a father, unless one of the parents is no longer here, and you should ask if an Italian guy takes a girl home to his PARENTS, not just to his mom.
And yes, when an Italian guy takes a girl home to his PARENTS, it means you're special. Same goes for Italian girls.
