I understand they are both considered prophets (correct me if I am wrong). What distinctions are made past that? Are either considered "closer" to God?

In islam god makes distinction between the prophets.

Quran says:

002.253
We have made some of these messengers to excel the others among them are they to whom Allah spoke, and some of them He exalted by (many degrees of) rank;........

However we as humans are commanded not to make distinctions among them which is found in the quran

002.285
YUSUFALI: The Messenger believeth in what hath been revealed to him from his Lord, as do the men of faith. Each one (of them) believeth in Allah, His angels, His books, and His messengers. "We make no distinction (they say) between one and another of His messengers." And they say: "We hear, and we obey: (We seek) Thy forgiveness, our Lord, and to Thee is the end of all journeys."

However, many contend that "distinction" here means we don't say these are good and these are bad prophets. ie. They were all good prophets.

There are 5 prophets that are considered the cream of the crop. known as Uul il Azm.

Noah,
Abraham,
Moses,
Jesus,
Muhammad

Generally Muslims consider Prophet Muhammad to be the highest ranking of all the prophets and that can be supported from hadeeth.

The lineage between them is through Abraham. Muhammad is descendant of Ishmael and Jesus from Isaac.

Jesus is closer to God because God raised him first out of all the prophets. All of the other prophets have not been raised to life yet but they will because of their righteousness. Muhammad has served humanity in a tremendous way by being a vessel for the revelation of Gods truth. How truly lost would mankind be without the Quran? Anyone who achieves salvation is blessed and one with God so ultimately there is no difference between any of the prophets.

Not at all, both are considered beloved prophets of God we don't believe Muhammad (pbuh) to be better than Jesus (pbuh). They are equal. We make no distinction between them other than one is the last prophet and one is the second to last prophet!!

See now, Jesus and Muhammad's relationship is a rocky one. Ever since they broke up in 1994 they have been at each others throats. The main problem between them is the fight over their vaccume. Both deem it their own but they did pay it with Christ's pay check. I guess it all has to do with how hard ending relationships can be. Especially since Muhammad cheated on Christ with Moses. (it happened at the bake sale)

Both Isa (Jesus) and Muhammad are Messengers of Allah (God). Isa spread God's message by the Injeel (the Gospel) and then Muhammad by the Quran.

May peace and blessings be upon them both.

As salamu Alaikum, Brother, Allah does anything he wills, you are not able to query 'why' on this case. Allah says to BELIEVE in All of those, it does not imply Believe this primary, this final, think on this order and so on. You must BELIEVE in ALL of the five to be a muslim, otherwise you do not have religion. Muslims in these days participate in hajj for the 'name' and exhibit-off. They overlook prayer, fasting, zakat, however continually yearn to do Hajj. Allah has assured Paradise for many who participate in it, provided that they cross in conjunction with all of the pillars, as certainly best the pious and the actual mu'minutes input Paradise. Those who participate in hajj would possibly not get a boarding go to heaven in the event that they overlook all different matters in Islam. I realize individuals who participate in prayers nor quick however cross to hajj with haram cash, so will they be immediately getting into heaven? Obviously NOT! Hajj is certainly an mandatory deed, however provided that performed for Allah's sake with natural purpose, we will get the entire present, and hajj does not promise heaven if our different deeds are not ultimate. And it's Allah who makes a decision who'll be going to heaven or hell. Muslims who rush to document questions? If you consider your query was once no longer valued at reporting, you CAN attraction inside 7 days. People are so ignorant this present day. But in case your query WAS valued at reporting, then there is not anything you'll do. :) Hope I helped...
