OK....my uncle's mother who is in her 70s live upstairs my house...my whole family is in the basement because it's better and fresh. She just came from long Island, and there is freaking no air up there, and it's like 110 degrees upstairs, she just turned on her fan that blows hot air, and she said she's fine, she just said that because she thinks she would bother us, but it's not true, what do I do??? My mom tried to tell her and she's too stuborn...my mom just told me 'she's not a baby, I told her millions of times to come down and she said no'.....HOW AM I SUPPOSED to sleep tonight, knowing an elderly woman may suffer from heat exhaustion or a heat stroke while i'm sleeping..HOW???

THERE'S HARDLY ANY POWER...THE FRIDGE WON'T WORK, AND THERE IS NO AC UP THERE...IF WE PUT IT FOR HER IT WON'T WORK

If she is drinking a lot of water then she won't be affected. Most elderly people have thin blood and she probably isn't as hot as you think she is. She has lived 70 years so I am sure she is able to take care of herself. Give her a break, she will come down if she is too hot.

You should explain to her just why you really would like her to go downstairs with you. She may really be afraid of being a burden to you, assure her that she is not. That having her with you would make you feel so much better.

I'm not sure if you are on Long Island, but they say that we are going to be getting a break from the heat tonight. So they say, I still don't see much of a difference.

You stop asking her and go up there and simply say "Grandma, come with me to the basement- I'm worried that you may die up here." And don't leave until she comes with you. Be more stubborn than she is. If she objects, just insist firmly. Don't ask! Tell her: You're coming with me now , grandma , because I care about you ok > now let's get in the cool air.

You are a dear person to care, It sounds like the only way to do it is to get your family all up there and the one amongst you she respects needs to say, "We are here to carry you down stairs, what do you need from up here to make your short stay down stairs more comfortable?"
Another thing you could do is tell her you are going to call the local fire department and have them come move her.

You need to force her to come downstairs. Yes, you are correct to do so. She could get very ill and have complications. Try very hard.

if you have ice,put ice in front of her fan it will help cool air.
One thing I used to do when i was younger was put my feet in a pan of cool water,it would cool my whole body off, even a cool, wet washcloth put around neck helps.
