It's too difficult to prove the Encyclopedia Britannica wrong or right.

It's too easy to prove TV Guide wrong or right.

The Bible has just the right amount of challenge.

Basically lots of people believe the Bible is 101% true - even the bits that openly contradict each other are both true at the same time despite being polar opposites.
Some other people hate the idea that anyone should believe in anything except that they know best and so argements ensue.

Both sides are CERTAIN they are right, far too certain to back down or compromise over any issue no matter how self-evident and thus the situation will continue.

What a daft question -

"why r people so obsesed with provng the bible wrong or right? What do they care?"

Clearly, these 'people' you refer to are 'testing' or 'questioning' things because for one reason or another, they do 'care.'

This subject is never going to be (here on Earth)
one that is resolved, but that doesn't stop the challenging questions they ask of each other.

But then, what the hell do you care? being so dismissive enough to ask a question of people and then ask 'What do THEY care?'

Who are 'they'? Is 'they' the same 'they' as the 'people' your asking the question of...?

If so, then the answer is there in front of you.

Regards.
Sash.

Some people are obsessed with trying to prove the Bible is not true because it contains commandments about what we do in life.

According to the Bible, we are not to have sex until we are married, then, only to the person of the opposite sex that we are married to, and we are to stay married to that same person. To do otherwise is to commit a sin. The Bible also teaches that if we continue to sin and do not repent, we risk going to hell for all eternity.

Of course, many people want to do whatever they want to do, not what God says is the best way to live. They also do not want to be thought of as sinners.

I think that the biggest reason that some people are obsessed with trying to prove that the Bible is not true, is that deep within themselves, they either realize that the Bible is true or at least that it might be true. This is extremely threatening to them and they desperately fight against the truth.

I know that the Bible is true but I don't have to try to prove it to others. If someone tries to tell me it's not true, I will explain to them why I know it's true, but I won't argue about it,

It is used, especially in this era, to define the culture of the US, so the validity of that definition is called into question. If we decided that it is not the base for the culture then we have the freedom to explore and hammer out a cultural expression which is uniquely a reflection of this generation in this era. I am with you, by the way, the Bible has some good information at least from a historic, anthropological, and archaeological perspective, but to prove or disprove it seems a bit tiring.

If Christians can prove that the Bible is right, then that would cause everyone to really believe everything it says.

If Non-Christians can prove the Bible is wrong, then that severely severs Christianity, and give a lot more credit to other forms of belief.

Although, currently, there's a lot of evidence for the Bible, the Christians are doing better showing the Bible is right...

The people who swear the Bible is right, are trying to convince others of the same, perhaps to save them. Possibly it is also some validation if they do.

I happen to be a practicing Christian and used to try to save people but now only tell them when asked or if they want to know why I think the way I do, I tell them.

I think the people who want to prove the Bible wrong....are seeking validation...and really hope they are right...or else...well, they may have a problem later.

God ":haters" have no reason to hate something they don't think is real.....

so why do they do it...unless they possibly could be wrong!

That is pretty scary,

Ps......your spelling is atrocious

Because the Holy Bible is the foundation of their faith, entirely. If it in incorrect then everything they know is incorrect. They have rested their entire lives on the content of that book. Of course they should be concerned over whether it is right or wrong -- although I think it's sad that some people are so dead set on the idea that it is completely infallible and correct. The bible was written by men, and compiled by men who decided what to put in and what to take out. Men have changed the wording to suit their own needs. (King James changing 'Thou shalt not suffer a poisoner to live' to 'Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live' so that he could claim land from someone he accuse of being a witch after changing this passage.)

It's too bad, that some people are unable to grasp the concept that it might not be COMPLETELY correct.

For so many people, their religion forms the most important feature of their identity, I imagine it is a tribal thing, that's why there are so many denominations in modern Christianity.
Also in the past it has led to war between Catholics and Protestants and today the American Evangelists lead the drive for war in the middle east and also in support of Israel. (do you remember the slogan that a vote for the democrats is a vote for the devil?). Many have simply lost the most basic foundation of christian belief.
Most people are not obsessed with historically proving that events took place which are mentioned in the bible, that is for historians and archaeologists.
I believe that many simply wish to further their own interpretation be it Literal or Liberal.
If I hear two Christians with differing views it is often much like listening to two politicians of opposing parties.
Perhaps, in answer to your question , politics and identity are the main driving force for many of faith rather than spirituality in essence (and for people of other faiths also).

the people that complain often seemed to be concerned with its insertion into everyday politics or social mores that may or may not conflict with their lifestyles or own beliefs. what many people fail to understand is the bible, like any written word whose authors since have passed, is subject to scrutiny and rampant interpretation. that's why you have churches that disagree on homosexuality or women's roles or even politcs. some read the bible and see a doctrine of suppression; others read it and see guidelines for ethical living. the real question is: why do you care if someone wants to 'disprove' biblical text --- as long as you believe in it how you wish, their opinions shouldn't dissuade you from your faith.
