Get some earrings with surgical steel posts. Clean your earlobe thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol or hydrogen peroxide, make sure it gets in the hole. Sterilize the new earrings with the alcohol or peroxide and put them in right away. Then care for your ear as though it were newly pierced, i.e., turning the earring several times a day and cleaning with alcohol/peroxide until the infection clears up. Try to figure out what caused the infection and avoid it in the future. And it's not necessarily cheap earrings. For example, I can wear any old cheap wire in my ear, but if i want to wear posts, even 18K gold, I have to take then out before i go to bed. Can't leave posts in my ears for even 24 hours or my ears get all icky.

take the earrings out and trash them. Desinfect your infected ear with rubbing alcohol or peroxide. And then put perhaps some neosporin on.
Don't use those earrings any more, they probably are not made of purest gold or silver or surgical steel. Their metal may have traces of nickel or other contaminating metals which cause those reactions. It's a very well known fact. Some European countries do not permit nickel in Jewelry any more, there are no such laws in the US
Anyway - No cheap earrings anymore for you, sorry....

Clean it up with an antiseptic. Alcohol might not be something you'd want to keep applying, as if will dry it out and then you might have more problems. After cleaning, apply a thin layer of Neosporin. Make sure to clean at least twice a day, applying the Neosporin afterwards. It should clear up in a few days.
You might consider the possibility that you are sensitive to the earing itself. Especially if it contains nickle, which is quite common in innexpensive earings.
Also, if you wear hairspray, be sure to cover the ear area before spraying it on.

Soak your earring in alcohol for about an hour before putting it in. Take a Q-tip and clean your lobe with alcohol or peroxide 2 times a day. Don't touch your ears unless u wash your hands first. That said, it shoud go away in a couple of days.

How bad is it? If it's real bad - see a doctor.
Let's assume your earring is gold or surgical steel. (if no - take it out, replace with gold)
Taking the earrring out will hurt like hell. Don't take it out if you don't have to.
Rub the front and the back side of the hole with Isopropanol (rubbing alcohol). Try to turn the earring in the hole and rub again. If it's stuck and doesn't turn and hurts too much - live it alone for a few hours and try again later. It should get to normal in a day or two.
If it gets much worse see a doctor.

Cleanse the area with soap and water. Apply alchol or hydrogen peroxide to the area a few times a day. Keep a clean nickel free earring in the ear if you want to keep it open. You are probably allergic to nickel...a metal found in earrings...you need to use only earrings made for sensitive ears and that are nickel free. Good luck.

If the infection is VERY mild, it is suggested that you use Neosporin at least 3 times per day. If it is more serious, you may need oral antibiotic. Alcohol and other surface disinfectants are not enough for an infection.

You should try Isopropyl Alcohol on a peice of cotton. If that doesn't work, try using Hydrogen Peroxide. Make sure you clean the earring that was in your ear. Soak it in alcohol to kill any bacteria.
