She just came from long Island, and there is freaking no air up there, and it's like 110 degrees upstairs, she just turned on her fan that blows hot air, and she said she's fine, she just said that because she thinks she would bother us, but it's not true, what do I do??? My mom tried to tell her and she's too stuborn...my mom just told me 'she's not a baby, I told her millions of times to come down and she said no'.....HOW AM I SUPPOSED to sleep tonight, knowing an elderly woman may suffer from heat exhaustion or a heat stroke while i'm sleeping..HOW???

Insist that she be moved to a cooler area. Sometime we have to take the lead and do what is best for them, despite their protests. If she were seriously ill and needed antibiotics to survive, but didn't want to take them--you would insist, right? Well insist in this now. Just because she says she is fine, doesn't mean her body is fine.

Get her to the basement if two people have to carry her--carefully-down there.

If she truly won't come down, maybe you could go up with a washcloth soaked in cold water every little while and make her blot her face, neck and arms with it. Then when the fan blows on her, it will feel really cool. Hopefully, by bedtime it will have cooled off enough that it won't be as dangerous, even though I'm sure it'll still be uncomfortable. If it's really dangerously hot up there at bedtime, y'all just may have to take the bull by the horns and make her come down whether she wants to or not. I know old people can be really stubborn.

I would maybe go up once an hour and offer her a glance of lemonade or water and do this every hour hydration will help. Once youre up there you might want to chit chat with her and let her know how special she is to you and what she means to you and how precious her life is and your a bit concerned about the heat and ask her if she wants to come downstairs and watch tv or read a book or game and just keep hammering away, get fans up there ask a neighbor if they have a extra fan you can borrow. Good luck and keep us posted.

Get your parentse to go upstarirs to her, and convince her to come down, and that it's not safe upstairs. IF she continues to say, "I'm fine" , the reply should be, "We know you're saying that, because you think, you'd be a bother to us. But truth is, you wouldn't. And it really is safer down stairs. ".
