Just go to the library and borrow books to study for the test. Barron's and Kaplan publish these books. You can buy them from Barne's and Noble from between 20-30 dollars as well. You have essays to write and yes, these are hard to study on how to write them, but make sure you just start with your thesis and back it up throughout the essay. Don't skip from subject to subject-make sure it flows from one sentence to the next and doesn't jump around, such as talking about your character is brave in one sentence, and the next sentence you go to saying something off the wall like the sky is blue-support your facts. And make sure you conclude the essay and tie in your proofs to your thesis. And with the math section, just study problems out of the CBEST study aid books. I took the test 2 years ago and didn't study extremely hard like I should have, but I did pass it the first time around. I'm getting ready to take the CSET next month. :) Good luck to you!

Sounds like these are State Standardized tests for teachers. We have Praxis in Tennessee. The CBEST basically focuses on the English/Reading/Writing/Math. Research background. There should be some examples of questions online. Good luck

I took the CBEST back in 1987 when I was getting my first credential. I suppose how easy or hard it is will depend on your background, but speaking as a math teacher, I found the mathematics and the English portions geared towards a middle-school education. If you haven't done math in awhile, you might want to brush up on things, but honestly I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.

If it's any help, there used to be a tutoring center at Chabot College in Hayward. I worked there for a bit, and tutored a couple of people through the test. If you aren't in the Bay Area, you might check community colleges in your area.
