is this a serious question? Well, if it is, heres your answer.....If your cat lives, give it to a shelter so they can find a good home for it. You, apparently are not capable of providing one for it. You could have kept up on cutting the nails regularly (5 lousy bucks at a local groomer that takes 3 minutes to do) or even declawed your cat at the vet. (about 100 or less). Both would have been better then beating it into a coma. Nice job. Do yourself and other animals a favor and don't get another animal. If it is still unconscience, and this question is for real, take it to a vet immediatly. There are ER vets in just about every town in the country, just look in the phone book. (or would that be too hard for you?) If this is a joke... May i suggest that you stop wasting other peoples time and energy on you. Perhaps you could use a course in maturity?

The best way is to get your cat a scratching post and sprinkle some catnip on it. If that doesnt work get a small water gun and every time the cat scratches the sofa you shoot him (seriously).try that for a couple of weeks and if it doesnt stop worst case scenario you take him to the vet and have his claws removed. Also have in mind that if you decide to declaw your kitty he will not have a defence machanism.

Give it some time to see if it wakes up. It may be unconscious. If it doesn't wake up, you have killed the cat and must bury it.
Think long and hard before you get another cat. It doesn't sound like it is the right pet for you.

A) Your a jerk.
B) Don't declaw your cat, If you were a decent owner you could modify it's behavior.
C) Just give it to the shelter, it will live a better life without you.

Hitting your animal is the wrong thing to do. I think the best thing to do would probably cut its nails regularly so the problem will stop.

I don't know if this works, but I read somewhere you should spray perfume on the couches. Apparently, the smell keeps them away.

Give it away, you do not deserve to be responsible for another living thing. God I hope you don't have children,
