The Falkland Islands War was a quandry for the U.S. The Monroe Doctorine stated ( in short ) The U.S. would come to aid Latin and South America from European influences. However, the British have been one of our closest allies since the Second World War.

The U.S. did stay neutral for the most part, but did provide the British some intel with Satellite photos.

On an additional note. It was the Flakland Ilands war that determine the nature of the current U.S. Navy. At the time, the idea of Super Aircraft Carriers were being debated in Congress. A majority were in favor of the Pocket Carrier based on the British Model....until they saw what the Argentinian Air Force did to the Royal Navy...Hence the Nimitz Class Carriers came to be.

As for fat Yanks...Yup...We are fat. One reason. Food ( much like everything else ) here is cheaper than there.

The US was not an ally of, and did not support Argentina during the Falklands War. Alexander Haig secretary of state attempted to mediate the crisis through the OAS when the British task force was en route. The result of the war was known as soon as Britain mobilized anyway, and usually any action taken by the UK or US is fully backed by the other, sometimes under the table. Same with Israel

Spretches du Deutch? No.....Ever wonder why English is still the official language of U.K.? Perhaps it has something to do with those "Fat Yanks" saving your **** during WWII. Without us you would be marching a goose step, shouting Zieg Heil !

Wrong.

We sided with the British.

Initially we tried to be impartial mediators - but when the negotiations broke down we choose a long time democratic ally over a dictatorship.
