Today, its a little tougher to claim to be a "prophet" and get a massive flock of sheep to follow you mindlessly, although it still happens. But back in the day, it was easy as pie. Every fool facing death daily with constant war, disease and super short life spans was trying to cope with their fear of death and religion was the best drug availble.

Todays snake-oil salesmen can only rob us of a few bucks, but back then, they were called "prophets" and when they took advantage of peoples fears to hoist themselves into power or turn a quick buck, the implications were much bigger...and dog gonnitt...we are still living with it today!

Imagine your God and you want to communicate your intentions to people...now...isnt the last meduim you would use...another human being!!!

I would zap my code into their head or program it into their genes. I would not leave it for another human to convey because this would embolden a billion other frauds claiming to be a prophet.

Modern abrahamic prophets is actually an interesting subject...Look at the Rev. Sun Myung Moon, or the Hon. Elijah Muhammad of the Nation of Islam. Or in persia, The Bab or Baha'u'llah. Rastas decided Emperor Haile Selassie was jesus and god.

I think the fact is, people want prophets. They want...deliverance. Everybody is waiting for another prophet, Messiah, Second Jesus, Mahdi, Buddha, or Avatara of Vishnu to save THEIR world and prove THEY were right all along.

A prophet speaks only the truth. And its easy to judge the false prophets of god. For some reason prophets of god dont get much media coverage.

Keep your eyes open and use some damned common sence. Truth feels right.. and takes no hate or effort to beleave. Trust .. and VERIFY.

Alot of people are told in religon is sacriligus to verify how things are interperated especcialy from the bible and its a damned shame. People .. in general dont take the time to study and do for themselves thier own interperitations of the bible. and listen to PEER pressure preaching and false prophets.

If it's part of your religion, then the person is a "prophet". If it's part of someone else's "religion", then the person is a "fraud" and a "wacko." It's not so much PC-ness as what group you're in as to whether someone is a prophet or not.

If he zapped it into our head where would we have any free choice. We would be slaves of God, and I don't think that he wants slaves. There's also the whole part about how I believe that science and religion must agree, and that doesn't exactly agree.
