I just took a personality test. According to the results, I am hedonistic, vain, self absorbed, dislike authority, plus a lot more unlikable characteristics about me. How can I become a better person?

First of all, I'd wonder about any personality test that tells you those terms. I doubt that it's a real valid test because I have never heard of any psychologically sound test giving those answers.
Would you submit via the additional details the website where you got the test? I'd like to take it myself.
I'm sorry that you were given those answers, but what I can suggest is this...
I used to be the most nasty negative person in the world. And I am STILL working on this.
But what I am doing to become a Christian under construction and to be more like what God wants, which is the direct opposite of those qualities you mentioned.
I've prayed about asking that God shows me when I do those things and then try to figure out how not to make those mistakes again.
When I think negatively I become negative.
One thing I've learned to do is to use Positive Affirmations.
I wrote down 20 things I want to change about myself and wrote them in a positive way.
For instance, I am very critical
I will be more loving to people.
It doesn't always happen, but as I think about it, I try to stop and think about what I want to say before speaking (for instance, I realized that in here there is a cancel button so if I think my answer is inappropriate, I delete it before submitting it).
Hope this helps!

Think about the things that make you a hedonistic, vain, self absorbed person. Are you nice to people? How patient are you? Don't necessarily "change" yourself. You took an online personality test, how accurate can they be? You are who you are, just be the best person you can be and don't beat yourself up over some stupid online test.

Make a list of the behaviors you want to change.Put them in order. Take the 1st one and make an effort to change that behavior to the positive. Don't be hard on yourself, this is a process and will take time. At night fall asleep to you saying the possitive behavior. If you pray, asking for help with this would be a good idea too. Good Luck..................

Is this George Bush under an alias?
sorry, to change you must work at being who you want to be, meditate at the begining and end of each day and focus on what you want to be and what you have done. that also means excluding from your life those who bring out the worst in you... you are greatly influenced by those with whom you associate

to begin with you have started allready. the first step is seeing the qualities you want to change. the second step is choosing not to act that way.. (sounds too simple) its not . it requires you to be present in the moment of now. not in the past or future. its starts out with alot of baby steps. knowing you have just the present moment and control that. after awhile it becomes second nature. physics states that if object is in motion it wont change unless their is a proportional force to in the opposite direction to slow its movement. same way with the actions in our lives. their has to be an equal force in the opposit direction. we do this one moment at a time. good luck . people can change . just use the moment of now . and stack them together..

First you have to acknowledge that you have faults. Secondly you will have to see the need to change (not because someone tells you). And thirdly you have to practice to change, if you really want to.
