I'm currently teaching english in a foreign 3rd world country.....many people attack me verbally in the streets cause i suppose i stick out like a sore thumb around here. I'm an american...but not the kind that dresses up in hawaiian shirts, shorts, black socks and sneakers lookin like a tourist...nor am i an arrogant asshole like a lot of americans are when they travel abroad. i'm here as a guest, and i respect the people and my enviornment.
last night some of my university students invited me to go shoot pool. sure enough upon enterring the pool hall, i started hearing the negative **** from everyone. well, i just concentrated and wished for everyone in the place that they have a hummer, wallets fulll of gold, true success for everyone. i guess they caught my vibe cause strangers were buying me drinks. anyhow, i felt more at ease and at that moment i swear i wished more of my fellow americans were there to celebrate and have a drink with me. god bless u all.

thats a great story. it's good that you are open-minded and not quick to judge. as my grandma always said, "kill 'em with kindness"...i suppose that works all over the world. it can come thru in your words or, in your case, your state of mind.
and i'm guessing the libations helped too!
