Any dog over the age of 6 months is no longer considered a "puppy" in veterinary terms. Yet, you should still feed puppy food until they are a year old. 6 months to 8 years is considered an adult and 8+ years is considered geriatric......all in veterinary terms!

In reality, it depends on the breed. Some dogs mature fast and some slow. Usually the larger breeds take longer then the small or toy breeds. An 'average' would probably be 9 months to a year, but the large or giant breeds are 18 to 24 months.

physically, a dog matures at around 1 year old. you should start feeding your dog adult dog food when he is a year old. However, your dog might not act like an adult dog even when he is (i am just assuming your dog is a he) one year old. the mental mature age depends on the breed. take samoyed as an example, they act like puppies until they are around 4.

18 months is about right. At 1 year it is mostly full gown more in the teenage time but by a year and a half you can call you dog a dog.
