french vanilla... has real vanilla bean and more eggs ... the other is imitation and less egg is my guess. Notice the coloring is more yellowish for the French vanilla

True French Vanilla has a cooked custard base (milk, eggs(egg yolks) and sugar)vanilla is added after cooking. Most vanilla ice creams contain no eggs

Mainly its just the title - and French vanilla sounds classier. However, French Vanilla is creamier than normal vanilla.
