Nope!! you only are supposed to gain 20 pounds (plus water weight depending). Trust me it takes dieting and exercise. I had the same problem!!

Hey there! Well, I definitely know what you're going through. My son is now 6 months old and I haven't really lost a pound since the initial weight loss right after he was born. I have to admit though that i haven't really been TRYING to lose yet though. I gained 50 lbs while pregnant and still have 30 lbs. to lose.

I am still breastfeeding and intend to continue to do so until he is at least a year old hopefully. I was told by a lot of women that nursing really helps to take the pounds off... but that hasn't been the case with me... yet anyway.

I am hoping that watching what I eat (which I haven't really been doing) and a little daily exercise will help to hopefully 'melt away' the rest of the weight in the next 6 months or so. Fingers crossed!

Best of luck to you!

I wish the weight melted off! I gained alot with my first son. (about 65-70 pounds) I lost most of it but it took a long time. I was almost back to my pre baby size and I just found out I'm preg again. This time I haven't gained any weight though, I've tried to be really careful, but I've actually lost weight. I'm 24 wks and weight less than I did before I became preg. I say just keep trying I worked really hard to lose the weight but with a new baby and a job and a household to run it isn't easy. Any one who has had a baby is rooting for you. GL!

Nursing for the first year helps to drop the pounds. Your goal is to lose it steadily over time and for some women that takes 6 months to a year. Since you gained 70 pounds, though, it might take you longer with good diet and regular exercise.

my daughter is 8 months old and i gained 62 lbs with her and i still haven't lost all my weight, i still have about 25 left to go. I like to take her for a walk, mow my yard and eat right. I'm still in your boat also but this has been working for me... i guess you should keep working at it, but to have a b4 baby body again is far and few between... good luck

The younger you are the easier it will be to lose the weight. The older you are the harder it will be. Just eat right and exercise. The weight will come off. It sure takes longer to lose it than it did to gain it.

it jsut depends on your body type. Mine never did but my sister in laws did with both her babies. I have even tried every diet I can think of. I walk every night and all kinds of stuff like that. I have lost 15 puonds in the last 4 months thou. Just keep up the good work and try to keep your head up thats the hardest part,

exercise and diet. by diet, i don't mean "dieting" as that just causes the weight to rebound again.

you have to cut the fat and carbs and increase protein, vegetables, fruit, whole grains, and nuts. avoid pasta, white rice and white bread, because those are solid starch and turn to sugar almost immediately in your bloodstream.

and a jogging stroller is a good investment (a link is below). babies love them! you can get them at good prices slightly-used in children's clothing shops sometimes. they'll give you a good workout until your child is 2 to 3.

there are also strength-building exercises you can do with your baby. your local recreation center may have classes in these.

Gaining anyhting over 20 pounds is just excess weight. You now have to work on getting that off. And doesn't come off as easy as it went on. I know...always working on it.

As my OBGYN said to me "you'll gain weight in your boobs and your butt. Your boobs will go away, your butt won't."

I think I gained 20 punds in just my boobs the first time. Did not like it, next time I wore a sports bra the whole time.

Melt off?? If fat just "Melted off"...honey...I'd be a super model.

Breast feeding helps take off the weight...but for the rest, you'll have to do it like anybody else...eat right and exercise.
