I've been collecting decorative plates for few years now, and I'm thinking of displaying them on my wall. Can't seem to find plate hangers here. Any other ideas?

Hmm, if you can't find plate hangers one thing you could do if you wanted to display them, and this may look better in a dining room but I guess could look good anywhere depending on the plates, would be to use shelves. Just go to Wal-Mart and they have cheap shelves that look pretty good. I got some white ones that I used in my bathroom (I think they had them in light wood too). The ones I got where with the bathroom shelves and storage. You know, like those things you put behind the toilet to put towels or whatever on.

You could also install a type of moulding around your entire dining room kinda like a chair rail that you could set the plates on. I think they used to do this in older homes.

You could also go out and buy thin chain or wire, cut 6 inch or shorter pieces and hot glue to ends to the back of each plate. Make sure they are secure and then just hang the plates off regular hooks like a picture.

You have a few options now.

How To Display Decorative Plates

I have quite a collection of antique plates and platters that are hung on the wall. I found the hangers in many sizes at Michael's craft stores and JoAnne fabrics. They are really the safest way to hang them on the wall because they have a spring which stretches across the back and secures the plate. They are brass and cost $1.99 - $5.00 depending on the size. I live in an earthquake zone and we've had some powerhouse 6.0 and they did not fall off of the wall.

in the journey that your platter has any value, do not use plate holders. they are going to finally placed on the ornament off the platter and shrink its value. purchase a small wood easel and function the platter displayed on a table or hunt board
