...What about washing it? Isn't it hard? I'm already quite a few many inches underneath my chest and t's difficult to wash it- plus it's VERY thick- will it be hard? And no, don't tell me to forget growing long hair or cutting my hair. Those are big no-no's!

Thanks!

I don't use conditioner! Any type I use makes my hair very heavy and greasy like. I only use shampoo.

What are you talking about thinning my hair?! The fact that my hair is very thick is not the question! It's gorgeous the way it's so thick and lush... I'm only talking about length here! Well, my hair thickness too, but I'm leaving that, okay?

Washing longer hair takes care and a little more time, but, no, it isn't hard.

Here is how:

Get in the shower and drench your hair. Now, take a large handfull of conditioner and coat your hair, just from the ears down. This will protect your length and ends which, unless you have been out digging ditches or other dirty work, don't need that much cleansing.
Now, put some shampoo on your scalp and add a little water. Massage your scalp well, including up under your hair.
Now, rinse thoroughly. Apply conditioner to your hair, all over, this time. Gently comb with a seamless, wide tooth shower comb. Twist up your hair and clip with a jaw-claw. Finish your other showerly jobs. Take your hair down and rinse thoroughly. Finish with a cool water rinse, if you want, for shine. Gently put it up in a towel or turbie.

When you take it out of the towel, gently comb again with a seamless, wide tooth comb. At this point, you can put in a leave-in or lightly oil. Air dry. Now, see, that wasn't so hard, was it?

A few tips about taking care of and growing long hair. Treat your hair very gently. Wash and condition with products that are gentle and good for your hair. Avoid sulphates, cones and mineral oil.
Never pile your hair on top of your head when you wash it. It will be a tangled mess. Don't scrub your hair dry with a towel. Just blot. Never, never, never brush your hair when wet! You will stretch and break your hair. Avoid heat, including blowdryers, flat irons, hot rollers and curling irons. The longer your hair gets, the more care you must use with it. Treat your hair like fine antique lace.

My hair is long and thick, so I know what you're concerned about. Washing it is not difficult, though it takes a lot more shampoo! Make sure you pay attention to the roots as well as the ends. Splitting it in half or fourths helps. I don't wash mine every day, either -gets too dry and doesn't feel as healthy. Drying takes forever -let it air dry, or you'll get more split ends. Use a spray in conditioner to make it easier to brush, and comb through while it's wet. Definitely more work, but most of the time, I love it :) Good luck! Oh, and about cutting it every month or so...I've been told that, but I only cut mine twice a year and I don't have many split ends and it keeps growing. Not sure if that myth is true for most people, but it's not for me!

If several inches further than half way through your back is really long then whats mine considered when it's past my butt? No it's not hard to wash it, only is right now because I sliced off a small part of my thumb on a slicer but otherwise no and it doesn't take long to wash either, but I also go through conditioner like crazy.

If you really want long hair, then its worth the work... Yeah, it takes more shampoo and conditioner and it takes much longer to dry, but the joys of having all that lush, long hair is worth the work put into it. You live only once, so why not try it out anyway?

Yes! I was about to suggest that you not cut your hair no matter what advice you received. Of course longer hair requires more time to wash, rinse, and comb. but the beauty of it makes it well worth the time. You need to take care not to pull twist it too tightly or come too briskly causing the hair to break, I would suggest you wear it up during regular days and down for special ones. Keeping it up will allow it to be longer and thicker. Wearing it down can cause your hair to break and catch it on various things that can pull it out. Then too there is the weight pulling on it which can cause your hair to thin out. Keep your heart felt dreams.

I have very thick hair, and yes it's a pain to wash but it's pretty. Some girls try to make their hair thicker with all types of things while others try to make it thinner. It's so hard being a girl isn't it? LOL

I have really thick hair that has been as long as almost to my waist. I love having long hair, and although it takes some time to wash it and especially dry it, it's totally worth it if you want long hair. Good luck!

You really should only be washing the roots and conditioning the ends. Otherwise, you'll end up drying out the ends by overwashing and weighing down the roots by over conditioning. Also, you want to only wash every other day or so depending on how much oil your scalp produces.
