This of course assumes you have atheist friends, which I'm sure many on this site do.
If I knew that one of my friends was about to be sent to prison and tortured I would do anything I could to prevent it.
How can you live knowing that your atheist friends will spend eternity in torment? Why do you not spend every hour of every day trying to convince them to convert?
Surely you can't just accept it as their right to have an opinion when they are condemning themselves to eternal damnation? Unless of course you don't actually care about them.

After 8 responses assuming I'm a theist, I think I shall point out that I am actually an atheist... Strange that this question provoked the responses it did.

Thats a great question, but you can't make everyone change there minds if they are made up, you can just hope to influence them in some way. I have a few atheist friends and I have tried and invited them to come to church with me. All I can do is try to reflect the lifestyle I lead and hope one day that they will come to see the way. I can't force someone to change their mind, just like no one can change my mind about the existence of God.

not sure the thank you to respond to that devoid of offending every physique, yet right that's my own concept as an atheist. i think of the thought is that jesus died for all of mankinds origional sin, or the sin from whilst adam and eve ate from the tree of awareness. so human beings immediately ought to settle for and carry on with god's will so as to no longer sin anymore and as a result be despatched to hell. i could additionally decide for to function that even although i'm an atheist I have not have been given any quarrels with human beings of religion, i see that my concept is as illogical as yours and that the thought or disbelief in a greater physically powerful ability is completely in accordance with faith. Logically agnosticism or the thought no-one can tutor or disprove the exsistance of a god is the only logically sound path, yet lower back, each and every person is entitled to their very own ideals. and likewise, purely reason i'm an atheist does not propose i hate faith, so please do no longer touch me attempting to transform me or asserting i flow to hell, all you will do is make your self look like a prick :P desire i helped :)

Because they know that their heaven/hell idea is a big pile of stupid garbage and they're not really worried about the fate of their friends. Deep down, they know that it's not really true.

Because then they wouldn't have any atheist friends any more - on account of annoying them so much that they'd drive them away.
