Books are subject to human forgery.

Books require 'interpretation'.

For example, the Bible's "Tho shalt not kill". Does that mean ever, even in defense? Or "turn the other cheek". Does this mean even in the face of a war party that just killed all the people in the neighboring village? You gonna let your kids be killed?

How about the Quran's "Fight all people who do not believe in Allah". Is this only for back then or a command for eternal genocide on people who dont submitt to Islam? Or how about another chapter in the Quran that Muslims use to counter the previous, where it tells muslims (Surah 2) to fight them but not to kill the innocents. Who are the innocents? All muslims innocents but not non-muslims? The Quran doesnt say so you have many interpretations, some proclaiming religious genocide, other saying "that was not meant for today and innocents means anyone, muslim or not".

So, a book is a totally imperfect medium...could God have done better..right?

Today you have the Internet, technology, to convey your ideas, thoughts from this generation to those that follow down millennium.

Earlier, thoughts ideas were spread by word of mouth, where a lot of distortion did happen. Once books came, those distortions ended and interpretation started, the crux of the message was shall we call it 'frozen'? and every human has the freedom to choose his version of an idea, a concept, theology or whatever.

Many of the ideas and concepts in all religions were okay for a particular age, cause knowledge, facts were limited. Maybe 1000 years from now what we believe will seem archaic and outdated.

It is however unfortunate that humans tend to exploit the ideas in all religions to meet their particular agenda/s, and hence we have what you could call a distorted world.

Well, let's see. The 'Book' has been around for how long now? And people read. a lot. So, do I win?

Of course, any written word is imperfect due to the ancient transcribing methods, but for the most part, the Truth gets through. It is your own interpretation that counts. That is what enlightenment is, seeing the Truth and Light for yourself.

Thou shalt not kill. You do not go out and just wack your neighbor because you do not like the rose bush he just planted. Killing is allowed to protect against violence, to protect yourself in war time, either as a soldier or civilian, because you are protecting, not the protagonest.

About the Quran? I have no insight as I have not studied that religion. Too bad it does not seem to stress 'Love', in the highest form. As love and acceptance for all human-kind.

You may be right in calling books flimsy and fallible, but they did have the advantage of being both durable and portable - something useful next time you're in exile. They may require 'interpretation,' but can you think of a medium that doesn't? Even the direct, spoken word of God would have to be interpreted by those listening. And the basic message of love, at least, seems to be pretty consistant, so bearing that in mind, I guess it's up to everyone to interpret as best they can.

Our God is a personal God who communicates his love through grace.

The Bible is only one part of what God has chosen to reveal for our salvation.

God revealed the most important truths directly through his son, Jesus.

Still more truths were revealed by God the Holy Spirit, on Pentecost.

God's truth was further revealed by the teachings of his apostles, and by the actual, real life experiences of all the faithful.

God's church is responsible for illuminating the truths which he has previously revealed.

Jesus even sends his mom back into the world to deliver his truth, from time to time.

So, there's a lot more to the faith than just the Bible.

God knows exactly what he's doing!

Actually, the original phrasing which was translated incorrectly over the centuries, is not "Thou shall not kill" but "Thou shall not murder." Christian leaders need to try harder to get that correction out into public awareness.

In the overall sense, you are quite correct in your appraisal.

The First Coming of The Original Creator has yet to occur.

The Bible was inspired by Group Entities of angels (basically spiritual discarnates) and subangels (common spirits), not by the rarefied being of God Consciousness who initiated The Big Bang.

That is why all the traditional scriptures are incomplete, fragmented, distorted, and only represent basic, not advanced, spirituality. None of them represent the advanced spiritual teaching of The Original Creator.

Why assume that the God who created the universe and all in it, cannot inspire a Book, and protect its contents. After all, it is allot flimsier than a star. So, it should be a piece of cake.

As far as interpretation, many times it interprets itself, after prophesies of beast in Daniel, it says that beast are governments. The Bible also says no wicked ones would understand it, and Jesus said that God has revealed things to babes, and hidden things from the wise and intellectual ones.

In my opinion God did just fine, and everything we need to know for salvation is in there, if we want to know.

Jesus said when you are persecuted in one city, flee to the next.

God didn't use a book, people did.

People are just mammals with technology... we can't even figure out how to get along... why would god think people would be able to figure out a book?

God is there for any who seek. Finding out about who and what god is will never be complete by looking for the information in a book written by ancient people. God is available in the here and now. Limiting god to what was written by people who didn't even understand weather, famine, disease, disaster, and biology is an insult to god.

What you call a "flimy and fallible" book is the living, inspired, inerrant Word of God that has existed through the centuries and always will endure to the end of time.

If you don't believe in God, then why ask so many religious questions? Maybe you could go into an atheist chat room where other atheists like yourself will pat you in the back...or are you just another religious pundit..just looking for followers?

If god's got something to say he's big enough to say it to everyone at once I don't think he or any one allegedly sent as his emissary is going to reveal itself in a ham hock or a pancake. He's Omnipotent he can talk to everyone at once if he truly wanted everyone to hear his message he would do it himself and to everyone at once all the rest is hype con jobs and tripe from little men trying control to make them not seem so little ...news flash they are STILL little men
