I'm a vet tech, and yes I have heard of reactions to advantix. The most common problem we see is loss of hair on the area where it's applied. I've never seen anything more serious than that with it. I use it on my own dogs though.
We mainly see a reaction to Revolution though. We have had many sick dogs after Revolution is used. The vet I work for refuses to sell Revolution. And his first choice Frontline Plus, he says that their is less chance of a reaction with this than anything else.

Yes. Advantix didn't do what it was supposed to do. My dog (a little indoor mainly house dog) had a tick collar on, and Advantix, and still got plagued by 7 paralysis ticks from our backyard and nearly died. I will never trust frontline, advantix, or the collars again when it comes to paralysis ticks. The only think that works for me is Fido's Fre-Itch Concentrate which Sammy gets bathed in every 3 days. It's so expensive, but it keeps him alive. As for reactions to Advantix, he didn't have any as such, it's just a faulty product!

I used Advantix twice on my first two dogs. Afterwards, they could not use their back legs. I had to carry them up and down the stairs until they were OK again. Needless to say, I will NEVER use Advantix again. I now use Frontline Plus, have four dogs, and have never had a problem.

I don't know how small your dog is, but mine weighs 20 lbs. and Advantix works fine for him. It makes him a little bit itchy when I first put it on, so I give him a Benadryl (with my vet's approval)about 30 minutes before I apply it and it's fine.

Isn't that Viagra for K-9s? If they're still up after 4 hours, consult your vet.
