bf/gf means that the two people in the relationship are serious about each other and agree that they will only see each other. Dating is more or less a casual relationship. Dating is like testing the waters before entering a relationship to see if you like the person enough to enter a relationship.

No reason to be really confused. It's really quite simple. A date is when somebody takes you out for lunch, a movie or whatever. Now after going out with the same person for a period of time you may get more involved with that person and decide to become boyfriend/girlfriend. Usually if this happens there's usually an agreement between the two people involved that they won't go out with anyone else. There are some cases though where they have an agreement that they can go out with others.. other then each other. Therefore each one could see the opposite sex for a date. Hope this helps. Take care.

Dating is when someone asks you on a date and you go out with them to the movies or go out and eat or something of the sort. This is strictly to get to know the person and from there you decide if you like the person or not and vice versa. If you do like the person and vice versa, then you or the other person asks them to become your girlfriend or boyfriend. This means you are not allowed to go out with any other person. When you are dating, you can go out with many different people, just as long as you tell the others that you are going on a date with some else also.

I think "dating" is when you and a guy go out together, just the two of you, for a day or evening, like out to dinner... and you might do this with different guys to get to know them, but not settle on one. Being a girlfriend means you are only seeing one guy at a time, and he's only seeing you, not other girls. If you become exclusive, then you are dating your boyfriend.

When a person is dating they'll regularly go on dates with several different people during the same period. Dating is a way to get to know someone, so you can decide if that person is better suited to a relationship with you than someone else.
Having a boyfriend/girlfriend implies exclusivity. You're seeing this person and only this person.

Dating means there is no expressed expectation for commitment or Dating means that it is universally understood that there might be other people and that it could end at any time.
Being boyfriend/girlfriend is establishing a commited relationship where lines and expectations are drawn and understood by both parties and that you will at least try to work thru any problems and build a long lasting trusting caring relationship. Typically it is understood that there will not be "others."
F'n can occur in either.

I've always thought that there is no difference, but then people always tell me differently. I believ "dating" is where ya'll go on dates but then you can go on dates with other people. So you can keep your options open. While being someones boyfriend/girlfriend you go on dates with them and only them. You can only be with them and be devoted to them. If you did go on a date with someone else while you have a boyfriend/girlfriend it is known as cheating. I hope I havent confused you b/c I think I have confused myself.

When you are someones bf/gf you guys see eachother more than once, and people recogniza that you are together.
However dating is used to describe when two people go out on just one date, or maybe even a few, and you don't consider to be with that person. Also dating is more often to describe when you go on a bunch of dates, but not always with the same person (you know kinda exploring your options).

I'm sure many people are too, confused by that.
My thoughts, are, if you and he, are going steady, with just the one person, then you are dating.
If you and they, are seeing other people in-between, seeing each other, then you aren't really dating.
But I think it really boils down to you both agreeing, that you are boy and girlfriend. A sort of commitment in essence.

Dating could be a boyfriend/ girlfriend situation or it could just be a using you situation. The terms mean different things to different people. You have to ask the person what it means to know.

Dating is when you go out to dinner, a movie, concert, and have no agreement to see one another exclusively. When you are boyfriend and girlfriend you each have agreed to not date other people.
