My father has had Leukemia several times as well as 6 other cancer 's in his body. No it isn't hereditary. Will it affect you"Yes" because you need to be the caregiver for your husband. My mother was always affected by each and every time my Dad got sick, and all of us kids(10) have been there to help my parents as well. friends in Church, Families of my parents, grandchildren, etc.
You can't help but be affected. My Dad was stage 4 a couple times and he's still with us. God isn't finished with him yet. He has been a testimony for several people.Take care and God Bless you on this journey and to your husband as well.

No it will not affect the wife. Except for emotionally. It's cancer... cancer is not something you can "catch".I think it is hereditary... but I'm not 100% on that. Most cancers are hereditary (not all)... but I believe the other parent has to have the gene somewhere in them too for it to come out in the kids.... not completely sure on that though.

OK leukemia is not a STD so how is the wife getting this blood disease???? Yes it can be genetic so a child could get it. Since they do not have a cure hard to say exactly what causes cancer. Worry about here and now not what is to come.

Leukemia is not contagious.
There are some forms of leukemias (there are many different types of leukemia, of course -- both acute and chronic, and from different types of cells, myeloid and lymphocytic) that do run in families. The vast majority of cases are "sporadic," meaning not inherited, and just bad luck.
