You need to get a lawyer to file an appeal. Hope there's a really good reason you overstayed (not just complacence). Check with the bar association of whichever state you're in. Some bar associations have a referral service so you can be sure you're getting a licensed attorney. Also, check to see if the lawyer's specialty is immigration law (he/she will most likely be a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association).

You shouldn't of overstayed your visa that is probably why your green card application was denied. They are assuming because you didn't follow the rules on your visa that you wouldn't follow the rules of your green card either...How long have you been married? If it is more than 3 years try applying for citizenship..
