okay, I am 14 yr. old and im moving next month and i dont know how to decorate my new room!!!
I dont want my new room to be preppy!
also, nothing too goth.
I want it to look sort-of punkish.
but i already know NO BLACK WALLS(parents would freak).. i was thinking maybe i could do grays... maybe black window shades and a black comforter.

but, the question is..
HOW SHOULD I PAINT, DECORATE, AND BASICALLY DESIGN MY NEW ROOM??

ii am COMPLETELY confused. PLEASE HELP!!!
one thing that im woried about is, i dont want a big theme. last time i redid my room, i did it sun/moon/stars and in a year i hated it but i couldnt change it.

My budget is around 300$-400$ (not including paint!)

please help me!

I've been a painter for 15 years. For someone your age, I would do a light metallic faux on your accent wall, then a slightly darker silver-grey with a slight hint of an earth-tone tanish color for the rest. Chances are it would match the carpet already there and won't upset the parents.

Do a mix of black and red because that would look really cool. Maybe they'll let you paint the walls red and then you could get black curtains and comforter. Also you can get colored light bulbs for your lamps, or black lights. That would be really cool.

you could always just stick to regular plain furniture, and put little "punk" aspects around yur room. liiiike instead of painting ALL of yur walls gray, you could paint 1 or 2 walls gray so it wont be overwhelming. and you can put black picture frames up and you should have a black/white comforter to even out the look.

learn to sew. you can buy fabrics and really make it your own. make pillows, comforter cover, curtains. there's a lot of stuff you can buy, but it's basically the same things over and over in different stores. buy a large stencil and paing a border around your room. buy a shaggy carpet. paint your furniture into your color scheme. there's no limit on what you can do and don't really need that much money.

Maybe do black and a vibrant red. Watch ONE TREE HILL, Peyton's room is really cool and really sort of punkish but not scary.
