You can print out your boarding passes on-line, however these are not the same things as your ticket or itinerary. To print the boarding passes you will have to go to the web-site of the airline you are traveling, even if you used a different internet site to book the tickets. This can save a lot of time, and it's like pre-checking in which can help you if you are running late, if you aren't checked in and are late, even if it's due to a flight delay(like if you have to switch airplanes), then they can and will sell your seats, this happened to us and it sucked big time, if we had pre-checked in on the airlines web-site, they wouldn't have sold our seats when our first plane was a little late in coming in, and we wouldn't have had to sit in the Dallas airport for the next 10 hours. However if you feel more comfortable just taking your itinerary to the airport and show it to an agent along with your ID, they can give you your boarding passes and you'll check your luggage right there too. They have these little machines now that say it's easy to go up and do EZ check in or something to that effect. We were in several different airports, and those stupid machines never worked, not for us and not for anyone around us so everyone ended up having to be helped by a person. Really try to get to the airport 2 hours early, it's much less stressful and will save you from having to make a mad dash through the airport to board your flight. Plus it's amazing how fast time goes when you are trying to check in and get to your gate, since this is your first time, save yourself that stress and get there early. When you get used to flying, then you can go for the excitement of rushing through the airport to not miss your flight. Oh, Enjoy your trip!

First of all take a deep breath, you cant get on the wrong flight. Gate Agents look at the boarding passes and most stations have a scanning system and it will tell you that you are on the wrong plane. What you do is go to the airports website and print your boarding pass, you itinerary will NOT get you through security. If you are not checking bags, you dont have to go to the ticket counter and check in if you have the printed boarding pass. When you get to the airport, check the monitors for your departure gate, they can change so check again when you get to the concourse if its a larger airport. Dont worry, you'll be fine, feel free to ask any agent if you need direction. You can go to the airports website and look at a map of the lay out so you know where you are going.
Cut offs for check in are 30-45 minutes before departure depending on the airport. Rule of thumb is be there no less than an hour to hour and a half so that if there are lines at security you can have enough time. You'll be fine, dont be paranoid.

I have never used the ticket as a boarding pass. I always show my ticket at Check-in and recieve my boarding pass. Arriving early is good advice since you have to go through security and such. Im not sure how busy your airport is, but it probably won't take you the entire two hours. I go to the airport in Atlanta, which is the busiest airport in the country, but it does not take me two hours for check in/security. You DO want to arrive early since its your first time. It will give you time to find your way. Hope that helps!

I would suggest you to go to the airport and check-in there if you fear doing so. They Customer Service Agent (Which I Am One) will help you and give you your boarding cards. Arrive 2 hours early if you can, if you can't, you are risking missing your flight. Remember airlines overbook their flights, if you are not at the gate on time, somebody else on standby will take your seat. If you are nervous especially, you not being their early will be the wrong thing to do!
