You can try using acrylic gloss paints, there use water as a solvent and do not give off damaging fumes.

It's the latex in the paint. I've been successful using a baking flavoring added to the paint to eliminate this problem. Vanilla, orange, lemon etc. All it does, is eliminates the latex oder. Don't know if it will work for you, but it's work for people with similar problems. I normally use about three cap fulls per gallon. Use the real thing, I've never tried the imitation flavorings before. Good luck

Latex paint is a soap and water clean up but is the fastest drying paint and you can add a couple of drops of vanilla in it to get rid of that paint smell affect Alkyd on the other hand is oil paint and I find it very harsh smelling and takes over 24 hrs to dry or longer depending on air circulation.
