If I told my children that Harry Potter was real? REALLY REALLY REALLY REAL, and supremely important to their everlasting salvation or damnation? And to convince others...and their children.

I think you need to snazz him up a bit first. Give him some ancient rules that were only applicable 2000+ years ago (shellfish anyone?), and then tell people to vote for presidents governed by such ancient rules.

Oh, and make sure that he has large gaps in his life where we don't know where he goes. Oh, and make sure you use a large number of "Hero" archetypes stolen from Egyptian and Greek mythology. That'd snazz it up real good.

Maybe if stories of Harry Potter are still around after 2,000 years it will be OK to tell them that. Otherwise, its not abuse, but it sure is stupid.

considering that i'm 99 percent sure you're being sarcastic, if by 1 percent you are genuine, knowing that harry potter was proclaimed a book of fiction by the author, you would need some medical attention a.s.a.p.

Funny that JK Rowling, unlike the people in the Bible, never actually claimed to be God (ie Jesus), or spoken to by God (ie mostly everyone else). You cannot put the two on the same level for comparison when they do not make the same claims. Apples and oranges, my friend.

I don't think it would be child abuse. But, it would give your children something to talk about in therapy a few years down the road...

No.

The child would probably realise otherwise later in life...

Wait a second why don't people realise GOD is false... Could it be possibly that he is real?

Think about it my friend... maybe GOD is real...

I LOVE YOU

MAY PEACE AND LOVE GO WITH YOU!

no, it's the same as "easter bunny" or "santa claus"
children need fantasies and i'm sure that god understands that. otherwise he woulld not have given us the ability or right to write fiction.
