Funny. I had this discussion with my mother just yesterday and I explicitly stated that the reason I am NOT Christian is because I don't find it necessary to degrade other people who think differently than I do, or who live differently. This isn't becuase I think that religion is bad, per se, but I have found in TOO MANY circumstances that Christianity is at the heart of every manner of aggression that plagues the world today. I do think that Christians are their own worst enemies becuse too many Christians go around insulting people of other faiths, people of non-heterosexual orientation, and people of scientific inclinations. Jesus Christ did none of these things. He STOPPED people from killing prostitutes and TOUCHED people with leoparcy; he didn't condem anyone (except religious fanatics and people who turned temples (synagogs) into places of monitary profit.) and he certainly didn't go around spouting a list of thou shalt nots.

Some questions for thought: Isn't the movement of Jesus Christ "Christianity" in the first place? If what you're saying is true, then what other religion promotes Jesus Christ besides Christianity? Is the movement of Jesus Christ seperate from Christianity? Christianity is Jesus Christ and His followers, at least in my opinion.

Now, I believe that if a church or a particular denomination gets too powerful and uses their power for unethical purposes, then that hurts the movement of Jesus Christ. But I do not believe Christianity itself hurts the movement of Jesus Christ.

I mean it's an interesting question, no doubt. But seems a little redundant. Maybe if the question provided an example, that would help me answer it a bit more. If you're searching for answers to your question, I've provided a link with some information. Hope it helps.

Well, the deadliest enemies in war terms are the ones who are, or have been "on the inside." I suppose Christians really are in the best position to give Christ a bad name, and I'd venture to say there are some that do just that.

Man with all their rules and regulations are the main obstacles in Christianity.
Jesus came to make loving and knowing God easier, no burdens and man made laws. Man takes what is a very fulfilling relationship and bogs it down with his interpretations of the Bible.
It is really simple for all those who want to know Jesus with out all the garbage- Just open your heart and read the Bible, the N/ testament and get to know the One who redeemed you- and can make you whole.

I don't think it's christianity. I think it's people who run around saying they're christians, but behaving as though they aren't.
