Set a limit on your losses and only play slot machines if you do not understand the strategy for the tables games or video poker.
If you want to practice online before you play for real money in a land based casino, try http://www.highlimitonlinecasinos.com
There are even some casinos listed there which will give you real money chips with no purchase necessary. You can win real money with those chips too!

Get a players card, if the casino has one. You record all your plays on this card, and you get comps back if you play a lot. You use the card for visits in the future, too.
Use slot machines near the aisle where there is a lot of noise and people, such as a restaurant line or doorway. It is like advertisement for the casino if people are winning where others can see.
There was a lot about the different Blackjack odds on the screen when you start. Some machines pay better than others. Maybe you could ask at the casino to explain that. The lady who was explaining it was a retired algebra teacher, and most of the odds information went clear out of my head. She wrote a book about winning at slot machines.
I learned this stuff on a TV show.

I used to be a croupier. Casino's are great fun. Just remember to take photographic id (driving licence or passport) and casinos take any form of payment so set yourself a spending limit!
Walk around for a bit to get a feel for it before playing and remember that most tables are half the price before 20.00hrs.
If you don't know what to do, ask a member of staff thats not busy rather than the dealer/inspector on a heaving table.
Roulette is probably the most fun and the Blackjack dealers are so quick, your money will dissappear very quickly - be warned.
Don't bet more than you are prepared to loose - its meant to be fun.
And most of all...enjoy it!
P.S. Check the dress code.

If you want to win money you have to spend money, So If you don't have 2 or 3 hundred to lose, don't figure on winning big. Your best bets are on the v ideo machines playing either keno or jacks are wild. It is possible to win a good share of money or at least hold your own with $50 for 3 or 4 hours. Other than that, don't go with the idea in your mind that you are going to win. Have fun

Watch and learn. Half of the fun is the anticipation of going. If you are a cautious person by nature, you will get a lot of pleasure by just observing others. However, if you want to gamble.... don't get carried away!! The most hardened gamblers started with just a little flutter, I'm sure. Everything in moderation and if you're lucky enough to be able to risk losing your money, then just enjoy the experience. Best of luck!!

let that be your first and the last day. if you earn the first day forget about casinos for a year or so. first day gains may involve you a lot in gambling. be careful. if you have money to throw in casinos , save it for some good cause.

Don't ever take more than you can afford to lose...
Also, when I start winning, I put my winnings away, and start playing with what I originally took. This way, I usually at least break even when I lose all my original cash. It's hard to play this way, because you know you have money in your pocket, but I always win or break even.
And don't play slots. They are completely random. At least the other games gives you chance to use some kind of skill.

Do gamble, otherwise there is no point going - I once went on a brewery trip and organiser didn't drink beer (?).
Think about how much you could offord to bet and lose. If the sum is less than 500 pounds (like for most of us), half that sum and just take that amount. I have no helpful advice for people who could afford to lose more than 500 pounds.
