We have a 17 year old cat and my grandmother had one that lived to 21.

Just like in people there is no way to know. Iv'e seen cats live to be 22 and I've seen cats as youg as newborn die. Explain to your boy that life is an unknown journey. You cannot know what it will bring until you get there.

they can live up to 19 years old if it stays healthy and if it is a inside cat and keeps shots up.......

Just keep on doing what you're doing - there is no set age for kicking off, just like humans. Enjoy her and just figure she is going to be around for a good long time.
