It's all about how sweet you like your soda.
Pepsi has the most syrip, and is the sweetest, so people with sweet tooths go for it. Coca Cola has a little less, and RC the least. Flavored colas have even more syrip (and are sweeter). Some soda snobs go for the mexican sodas because they use cane sugar instead of corn syrip (thus a different taiste).
Most generic colas aim for between Coca Cola and Pepsi and taist the same to most people.
There are independent cola makers I highly endorse that go for more exotic flavors and different mixes.

But if I was stranded on a deserted island and had only three sodas and no other beverage I would choose to drink the Generic cola first just to keep my mouth wet, Next I would select the Pepsi next to stay hydrated and finally I would drink the Coca Cola and enjoy every drop praying I would be rescued soon but if I died on this deserted island I would be comforted in knowing and remembering the taste of the Coca Cola down to the last drop.

Which high fructose corn syrup is better? If I have to choose, I would buy a can of Coca Cola in Mexico. At least there it's made with sugar instead of HFCS, which is way safer and seriously less fattening, . but that's just me.

When the sun is hot and no relief is in sight, colas don't get it done. Okay, I give up. Root beer, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper - or their generic equivalents.
