Definitely not! This was proposed by Congress and is an unconstitutional infringement on Freedom of Religion.
Prosecute the employers that exploit them.

Yes, because what they are doing is just perpetuating the abuse of the Illegal Immigrant (Economic Refugee). By not reporting the Illegal Immigrant, the Priest is condoning what unscrupulous employers, politicians, Corporatists and Church people are already doing--continuing the cycle of abuse.

The Church should be the first to report what's happening. Why isn't the Church, in these economic refugees home country, attacking the abuse where it originates?

Why must the Economic Refugee (Illegal Immigrant) have to brave hundreds, sometimes thousands of miles of hostile country, hostile exploiters (Coyotes), illegal border crossings, more hostile country and more hostile people just to get here, then to be abused (taken advantage of) by the Church, unscrupulous employers (cheapskates) and exploiting politicians just to make a living wage?

Why isn't the focus of the problem where it should be? The Economic Refugee's home country. Why are the Illegal Immigrants leaving their home country in the first place? All the Illegal Immigrant's proponents are guilty of this sin, and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

It is the Economic Refugee who is being hurt here. Not the Church, not La Raza or any of the other groups. These are not being hurt. It is the Illegal Immigrant who braves all the hostiles just to get here just to be abused even more by those who say they are helping them.

It is sickening the way these people holler and say they support the Illegal Immigrant (Economic Refugee) when all they are doing is putting another log on the fire. Sickening indeed.

At the risk of answering a question with a question you might ask is it fair to imprison a priest that helps a murder suspect escape. If we are going to have immigration laws we should enforce them. Other wise we should just open the borders to any one that can get here.

Priests are not above the law. But, if they're feeding or housing a hungry person, I've never heard that the church is required to ask if an individual has broken any laws.

Priests are just compassionate people helping illegals in their plight. It is the duty of priests to extend assistance to people who are in need. Nevertheless, if their act is already against the law, they could be put in jail.

It is fair to put anyone including priests in jail if they are convicted of any crime.

Is a priest 'above' the law? No way. He is only a representative of a religion

Depends on the help they are giving. However, the real criminals here are the EMPLOYERS including our own gov't. It seems to me that the guest worker program is supposed to help with the reconstruction of the Gulf Coast following Katrina. Nobody can tell me all those displaced Americans are too lazy to do the work!
