You may go sit in a Catholic church whether or not a Mass is going on. Catholics and non-Catholics alike are invited to listen to and observe Mass, but non-Catholics are asked not to participate in Holy Communion. Times being what they are, some churches are locked overnight or when Mass isn't scheduled, but most of the time all you have to do is knock on the door of the priest's house next door and ask him to let you in. This would not and should not be refused.

Yes and our church has a special chapel in the back that is more private. before I was ever a believer I worked in a Catholic hospital and it had a chapel. I would go on my break and just quietly sit. It is soothing to be in such a serene place. So good for the soul. Funny, I still didn't believe in Christ at the time but loved to be there. It was years later that I invited Jesus into my life. Go figure. peace.

church is supposed to be the house of god and open to you at any time but now modern society has started to get rid of the nice meaning behind this and now for safety the doors tend to get locked..if you are in a nice area then yes the doors will be open and if you are not in a nice area ( and these areas are generally the ones where churches are more needed) then the doors will most likely be locked

Sure you can----if the doors aren't locked. I remember a time when churches left their doors open for people who just wanted to come in and pray any time of the day or not. Unfortunately, not many of those teenagers who didn't have mothers or fathers raising them have decided that churches are as fair game for burglary and robbery as your house! So, you will have to go when the priest has the doors open.

Many will allow that. I have visited many churches and just walked around and looked in them both here in America and in England. There are some churches with absolutely gorgeous architecture.

You can go into a catholic church when there isn't a mass going on. (Unless it's closed)

Yes as long as the church is open.

sure, a lot of churches have the doors unlocked during the day - as long as there's someone there - and you can just walk in :)

Why not? If the doors are open, you are welcome. I do it on occasion. I indeed prefer to sit there when it is quiet and then I can tell the Big Guy exactly what I think.
