Instead of figuring things out in the store, my beloved and I have a tendency to call each other a bazillion times. Would it really be so terrible to come home with another brand of sour cream?
And it makes people ruder and less tuned-in to the world around them, too.

Personally, I don't like to talk on a cell phone. In fact, after I'm home from work - where I have to talk on a phone whether I want to or not - the last thing I want to do is talk on a phone! Yes, people are rude. I can't even count the times I've been at a wedding, at the movie theater, out to dinner, at a party, in church, etc. and someone's cell phone goes off. Some people even choose to answer the phone and hold a conversation during these events! It's so very rude. Why do people feel the need to be on the phone - even at very private or special moments???
As far as a cell phone making people dumber - I'm not sure about that, but it certainly makes some people act more rudely.

Well, lets see... the other day I was stuck in traffic, behind a guy who was talking on his cell phone. I had all my windows rolled down and had my radio turned up a little. He starts doing this neck thing to look at me and give me dirty looks, like I should turn down my music so he can continue to talk on his cell phone while driving! People have just gotten rude over cell phones! I see people all the time in grocery stores with those damn walkie talkie cell phones and all they do is talk to someone else in the store! It is stupid, why not just shop together and make decisions about what to buy face-to-face? People cannot think on their own anymore! I saw a lady in the drive thru at Burger King who didn't want to deal with her church group over the phone about their order, so she handed her cell phone to cashier who was waiting on her! How ridiculous! People are not planning ahead like they used to! Everyone is like, I'll just call so and so and they can tell me what to get, I don't need a list. People talk about very private things in public, like talking on their cell phone makes it unheard by everyone around them! I just get sick and tired of that! I have a cell phone, but I don't talk while driving, and it is really only for emergencies and work. People need to get a life away from their cell phones.

That's one of my pet peeves - Car Yaks. A yak is a big, clumsy, inattentive animal that lives in the Himalayan region. A Car Yak is a big, clumsy, inattentive animal that sits behind the wheel of an automobile with a cell phone at its ear... paying no attention to traffic, pedestrians, or anything else but their little conversation.

Let me count the ways...
They can't drive
They can't walk
They can't shop alone
They can't cross a street alone
They can't look for oncoming traffic
They can't control their voice volume
They can't pay attention to their surroundings
They can't experience empathy, only entitlement
They are completely unaware of their effect on people around them
Their concept of common courtesy has been erased from the electrons in their brains
Who'd like to continue???
Addition: Car yak. I LOVE THAT!!!
