Once the dog has it's shots most truly pro dog people take them everywere, bribe everyone they can catch to pet & play with the pup, even on some occasions coax other doggie friends to take them home overnight. Unless YOU ignore the pup all the time it's extreemly unlikely she'll prefere your friend to you. Not allowing anyone to play with the pup is likly to produce a dog that hides under the bed when people come over.

You are not being mean to crate train, that is just good common sense.

When your dog first arrives it is good to give it a little breathing space for the first day or so, let it get to know it's surroundings, it can be pretty daunting, imagine seeing everything at their eye level.

After that, yes, let as many people come into contact as possible, it is necessary socialization the dog will need, as poor socialization can lead to many problems later in life.

Just be aware if the dog is only a small puppy, anyone can bring in a dog disease called parvovirus, on their hands and shoes.
Make sure pup is vaccinated and also between the age of 6-12 weeks, any humans who have contact remove their shoes and wash their hands.
See this link for info on parvo virus.

its always better to let it be around other people when it is a puppy unless u want it to only like u and ur family... having contact with other people make it happier and nicer... with two of my dogs we only put them in kennels at night or when we leave because we cant watch them.
