If God was the author of the bible, like many seem to think he is, why is it filled with such disgusting, offensive and brutal imagery?How to sacrifice animals and how to sprinkle blood , talk of beating slaves, raping virgins, killing babies and children 'ripping them to peices" --is that God talking? yuck. really shocking and vile stuff.
Why does so much of it make absolutely no sense at all and why does so much of it not relate to today's world at all if it is meant to be a God himself written life manual for the ages?
All powerful God creator of all the millions of galaxies sounds surprisingly like a primitive Middle Eastern man......coincidence?

What the bible is filled with is the result of mankind's sin. It comes from his free will to choose between God, or sin. It was written by man, but inspired by God. Let me put it this way; there is nothing in that back that God doesn't want in there. Yes, it is pretty brutal in every sense of the word, but that only shows the depravity of man and his need for his creator. When you put two and two together like that, it really makes sense as to why we need Jesus in our lives... think about it. Take care:)

Do people really believe that God himself wrote the bible? I didn't know that!
No, men wrote the bible. Most were Prophets of God who were writing what God wanted them to write. They also were seeped in there own cultures, which were much more "yuck" than now. Not to mention all the corrupt politicians and kings and such that changed things to fit their purposes. Could probably write a book on all that stuff.
The bible is the word of God as far as it was translated correctly. It has so many wonderful things in it too, but Your absolutely right about it making no sense that God would leave the bible to be our ONLY source of the word of God. Seriously, check out the lds church. It all starts to make sense. I promise you, there ARE answers out there. Your instincts are so right on.

Wow, you are on a rant! Just an observation from one who goes on them myself. God didn't write it, it was written by men and inspired by God. A lot of it is meant to be a "Don't do this" and some of it is probably mis-translated by exhausted monks or whole sections cut out by editors (yes, the Bible has been edited many times).
Coincidence, and fact. Think about it next time you have a crisis of faith. Good luck.

A roman pagan collected the writings of several humans becuase he a bunch of Christians messing with his republic. he figured he better appease them and granted them their religion and gave them their Bible. God did not in anyway write the Bible. Jesus did not write the Bible and no where in the Bible will you find the Gospel according to Jesus - it was just men who wrote it.

Humans wrote the bible, thats why there are so many versions, each one saying that there religion is the "true" religion.I think God, gave us brains so we could make up our own minds as to what we want to believe in .

It was written by storytellers years ago. They were trying to explain scientific principles to uneducated people in a way they could understand.

obviously it was written by humans, like you said who else would write such stuff. but then people say that it was written by god through humans. that doesnt mean that humans manipulated it
